Things were easier back in the ’90s, especially if you were a kid. Life consisted of deciding which color light-up sneakers you asked your parents to buy and which Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle you identified with the most. Also, can we talk about the snacks in the ’90s? While some iconic selections are still available, many are not, which is truly tragic. I mean, what was Oreo thinking when it discontinued Oreo Cakesters? As if! Alas, I wanted to take a stroll down memory lane and remember all the good times we had together with our snacks in the 1990s, and I invite you to join me on this journey.

Potato Sticks
I generally hate eating things with my hands, but for some reason I made an exception for French’s Potato Sticks ($12), which are so damn tiny and messy to eat. They’re basically the broken cousin of potato chips, but hey, they’re delicious.

Fruit Gushers
Did you ever shove a whole pack of Fruit Gushers ($9) in your mouth at one time to squeeze all the juice out at once or were you normal? There was an abundance of sugary fruit snacks on the market in the ’90s, and we had a box of every single one in our pantry at all times.

Watermelon Laffy Taffy
Watermelon Laffy Taffy ($24) used to have “seeds” in it. I imagine the seeds were probably just made from more sugar, but I love the authenticity! We used to get these at the pool during the summer for a snack.

French Toast Crunch
I was big on having cereal as an after-school snack and still love it as a snack today. French Toast Crunch ($12) was one of my go-tos because not only was it cute (and who doesn’t love cute cereal?), but it was also delicious. It was discontinued for a hot second, but thankfully it’s back on shelves now.

Dinosaur Eggs Instant Oatmeal
When you’re a kid, food is about the experience as much as it’s about the taste. So putting a bowl in front of me that lets me experience dinosaur eggs hatching in my oatmeal? Hell yeah I’m gonna want that. I loved Dinosaur Eggs Instant Oatmeal ($19) back then, and I still love it now.

Goober
I actually come from the home of Smucker’s, so pretty much all of its products were staples in our house (and every other house in town). I went through a phase of loving Smucker’s Goober Grape ($27) and slathered it on every piece of bread I could find, because who doesn’t love the convenience of having your peanut butter and jelly in the same container?!
