Calling All Poor, Unfortunate Souls: Find Out What Disney Villain You Are Based on Your Zodiac Sign
Have you ever watched a Disney movie and, instead of identifying with a princess or sidekick, felt a teeny bit a sympathy for the villain in the story? (I mean, Maleficent was clearly misunderstood, and Captain Hook was tragically attacked by the supposed “hero” of the story, amirite?) If Disney villains make you feel more seen than anyone else, you’re not alone. Some of us just hard darker souls than others, and a lot of that is reflected in our zodiac signs. For example, Gaston, despite his many, many flaws, was a confident guy who liked attention – sound familiar, Leo? While everybody on this list may be certifiably “bad,” they all have highly relatable personality traits that make them seem even more human than most heroes. Find out which Disney villain you are by sliding to your zodiac sign, ahead!

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Lady Tremaine
Lady Tremaine from Cinderella knows what she wants (money, fame, her cat to always be happy, etc.), and she isn’t afraid to work hard to get it . . . by ensuring one of her daughters marries a rich prince, of course! She’s a total Capricorn – quietly controlled, disciplined, ambitious, realistic, and a fan of order. She’s also extremely stubborn when it comes to her dreams coming true – remember when she tripped the henchman and shattered the glass slipper so Cinderella couldn’t try it on? She may be quiet, but you don’t want to get on her bad side.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Mother Gothel
Eccentric and one-of-a-kind, an Aquarius is someone who isn’t afraid to be alone – just like Mother Gothel from Tangled (she does live in an isolated tower with just her stolen daughter, after all). She’s independent, unique, and assertive, and wants to do things her own way. Remember when Mother Gothel discovered a way to find true beauty from eternal youth by harnessing the power of Rapunzel’s hair and was determined to get it? Yeah, same energy.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20): Yzma
Pisces are imaginative, romantic, mystical, and totally creative, which is exactly like Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove. Yzma is a sorceress who tries to kill Emperor Kuzco in revenge for him firing her as her advisor, and has detailed schemes for how to do this, often involving potions. As a water sign, Pisces often have fluid, changing sides of their personality, reflected in the way Yzma can appear loyal to Kuzco while plotting to kill him at the same time. What can I say? She’s definitely a unique villain.
Aries (March 21-April 19): Maleficent
Nobody could accuse an Aries of being a sidekick. As born leaders, Aries are passionate, confident, and powerful. The magical fairy and former queen of the Moors, Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, embodies these traits perfectly. She’s offended by not being invited to the new princess’s christening (because, uh, rude!) and dramatically overreacts with her curse (we’ve all been there). Later, she uses her crow, Diablo, to find Aurora. Like any good fire sign, she also has a terrible anger streak, and can turn into a fire-breathing dragon at a moment’s notice.
Taurus (April 20-May 20): Ursula
Just like a bull, a Taurus is known for being extremely stubborn. However, this earth sign is also known for loving romance, beauty, and luxury. Who better represents this sign than the sea witch Ursula from The Little Mermaid? She’s sensual, confident, and striking, flaunting her curves in that skin-tight black dress and always dolling herself up with fierce red lipstick. She’s in the game of helping people find love (it’s not her fault if they don’t read the fine print), and she’s not afraid to take what she wants to fuel her passions for the finer things in life (like tricking a handsome prince into marrying her, for example).
Gemini (May 21-June 20): Captain Hook
Whether he’s chatting to his shiny gold hook or complaining to his first mate Mr. Smee, Captain Hook from Peter Pan is a talker, which makes sense because he’s a Gemini! This sign is extremely intelligent, adaptable, impulsive, social, and ready for an adventure. Captain Hook displays these traits in his quest to hunt down Peter Pan (who is responsible for the captain’s lost hand), often losing his temper and sailing through Neverland as he seeks revenge. But Hook has another side to him too – he’s handsome and charming and always knows the right thing to say (he’s also pretty amazing at coming up with loopholes in agreements!).
Cancer (June 21-July 22): Scar
Scar has been wanting to rule the Pride Lands in The Lion King for, like, ever, so it’s no surprise that he’s a Cancer. This sign is known to be fiercely loyal and protective, but also sometimes a little possessive. Similar to Cancers who hold grudges, Scar was offended that Mufasa had Simba, which meant that Scar had virtually no chance of becoming king. While Scar ended up killing his own brother, he was never shy about what he wanted.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22): Gaston
With his love of attention, Gaston from Beauty and the Beast is a total Leo. While he’s too busy flexing his biceps and eating tons of eggs to see that the woman he loves doesn’t love him back (get the hint, man!), he is the life of the party anytime he steps inside the local pub and seems to have a packed social life.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Jafar
Because they can be bossy and hard-working, Virgos often get a bad rep as control freaks, but they just want things done right! Jafar from Aladdin is for sure a Virgo, as he’s passionate about his crazy schemes to get the magic lamp, use the genie to become powerful, and then take over for the sultan in ruling Agrabah. He’s also a smooth talker in the name of making his way to the top. Additionally, Jafar knows what it’s like to reach his goals – he does become an all-powerful genie at the end of the movie, remember? – and to be loyal, as evidenced by his long-time relationship with his hilarious parrot, Iago.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Prince Hans
Oozing charm, good looks, and a fantastic singing voice, Prince Hans from Frozen is definitely a Libra. Anna trusts Hans, a virtual stranger, enough to get engaged to him, but as a Libra, he’s clever, social, and idealistic, so we kinda understand why. But don’t forget that Libras are represented by a scale, meaning their personalities are balanced. They can also be self-pitying and wish to avoid confrontation, which is probably why he told Anna that no one loved her (classic projecting) and secretly tried to kill Anna and Elsa so he could be the ruler (less confrontation, obviously).
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Hades
Hades from Hercules is based off the god of the underworld in Greek mythology. He’s a Scorpio through and through – powerful, mysterious, passionate, secretive, and interested in dark things (hello, ruler of the underworld!). Oh yeah, he also has a *bit* of a temper, which will literally turn the flames on his head red. Just don’t try to cast Hades in a box, as this baddie also has a terrific sense of humor, is a great friend, and is super smart.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Cruella de Vil
As the most glamorous sign in the zodiac, Sagittarius’s know the value of luxury items. They’re also adventurous and love pets, meaning Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians is definitely a Sagittarius. She loves Dalmatians enough to steal them, and she will only be seen in the most prestigious designer clothes and furs. She’s also passionate and loud, devilishly beautiful, and totally sophisticated.
