This Easy Winged Eyeliner Hack Will Save You Time in Your Morning Routine
Winged eyeliner is one of the most popular eye makeup looks, but it can be one of the most difficult to execute. It can be tough to get the line straight, while also making sure both eyes match up. And, while practice can make perfect, it can be disheartening to keep attempting the makeup when you can’t get it to look how you want it to.
There are a plethora of winged eyeliner hacks floating around on the internet, but the arrow liner trick is particularly easy. We discovered this simple technique via the Tarte Cosmetics TikTok account, which is definitely worth a follow as the beauty brand posts so many helpful tips and tutorials, including this dewy blush hack.
To achieve the winged eyeliner look, start by drawing a tiny line of dots from the outer corner of your eye travelling up in a line towards the eyebrow to form the outline of a wing. Then, continue these dots from the tip of the liner down to the eye to form an arrow shape on the corner of your eye.
Treat this outline as you would a connect the dots activity and draw a line following the dots to create the winged shape. From here, you can take the liner across the top eyelid towards the inner corner of the eye. Then, colour inside the arrow shape to complete the cat eye.
Repeat this process on the other eye and you’re done! It might take a few attempts to perfect and make each eye symmetrical but it is far easier to achieve a cat eye with this easy technique. We recommend opting for a thin eyeliner pen when completing this look, as it will be easier to create your arrow shape with little fuss.
For winged eyeliner, we can’t go past the Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Double Take Eyeliner ($35), which is a dual-ended pen with liquid and gel formulas. The Rare Beauty Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Eye Liner ($33) is also a winner, thanks to its long-wearing matte formula, as is the KVD Beauty Tattoo Liner Liquid Eyeliner ($30), which is smudge-resistant and lasts all day.
