Tributes Pour In For SB.TV Founder Jamal Edwards, Who Died at Age 31
Jamal Edwards, entrepreneur and founder of music platform SB.TV, died at age 31 due to a “sudden illness”. Edwards was responsible for helping to launch the careers of numerous prominent artists like Dave, Skepta, Ed Sheeran, Rita Ora, and Jessie J, giving them a platform outside of mainstream music. In 2015, Edwards was awarded an MBE for his contribution to music and later went on to become an ambassador for youth charity, The Prince’s Trust.
Edwards’s death was confirmed by his mother and “Loose Women” panellist Brenda Edwards, who shared a tribute that read, “It is with the deepest heartache that I can confirm that my beautiful son Jamal Edwards passed away yesterday morning after a sudden illness”. She added that “Myself, his sister Tanisha and the rest of his family and friends are completely devastated. He was the centre of our world. I would like to thank everyone for their messages of love and support. Jamal was an inspiration to myself and so many. Our love for him lives on, his legacy lives on. Long live Jamal Edwards MBE, MBA, PHD.”
