Killing Eve Is Coming to an End After Season 4, but There Are Still Hopes For a Spinoff
On March 16, it was announced that Killing Eve would be coming to an end with a delayed eight-episode fourth season. Originally renewed back in January 2020, production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the show may be coming to an end, there’s still hope for VillanEve fans; AMC Networks and Sid Gentle Films Ltd. are working to develop spinoffs to expand the world of Killing Eve.
“We could not be more thankful for the extraordinary talents and efforts of everyone involved, particularly Sandra and Jodie, who made Killing Eve much more than a television show. We look forward to what is sure to be an unforgettable final season and to exploring potential extensions of this compelling universe,” Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks, said of the spinoffs’ future. Who or what these spinoffs would be about is still to be seen.
“Killing Eve has been one of my greatest experiences and I look forward to diving back into Eve’s remarkable mind soon,” said Sandra Oh, who plays Eve Polastri. “I’m so grateful for all cast and crew who have brought our story to life and to the fans who have joined us and will be back for our exciting and unpredictable fourth and final season.” Oh wasn’t the only star to share her love for the show. “Killing Eve has been the most extraordinary journey and one that I will be forever grateful for,” Jodie Comer added. “Thank you to all the fans who’ve supported us throughout and come along for the ride. Although all good things come to an end, it’s not over yet. We aim to make this one remember!”
The third season premiered in April 2020, seeing Eve and Villanelle leave together before making a pact to walk away and never see each other again. Of course, it ends as the two stop to give a knowing look back at one another. Season four will begin filming in the UK and Europe this summer before premiering in 2022.
