Chin Sheet Masks Are Taking Over Instagram — I Was Sceptical Until I Tried One Myself
There’s a sheet mask for every skin concern — dryness, dullness, blemishes — you name it, there’s a mask for it. Recently, I tried a style of face mask that I have been sceptical about: the chin mask. Designed to leave you with a more defined chin and jawline, there are a number of these masks on the market.
Touted as a non-invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery, these masks are infused with a number of hydrating ingredients which plump the skin and give it a temporary lift. The mask I tested was DfineWorld’s Chin Lifting Mask ($39.99 for three) which contains active ingredients infused into an elastic piece of fabric that loops around your ears and hugs your chin.
The mask is fairly straightforward to apply, you simply open it up and stretch it out before placing it over your chin and onto your ears. I have to admit that I found it a little uncomfortable around the ears, despite stretching the fabric out beforehand.
When applied to the skin, the mask feels cool and fits snuggly around your face for a fairly comfortable fit. There is a small hole for your mouth to poke through, which allows you to still drink but the mask is tight enough that it’s not really possible to eat while wearing it. The instructions say to leave the mask on for 30 minutes, which is quite a large chunk of time but because of said ear loops, you can still walk around and do what you need to do at home without the mask falling off.
When I removed the mask, my skin looked plumped and felt pretty hydrated. I also used the mask the morning after consuming quite a few glasses of champagne, so it’s fair to say that I was looking a *little* puffy pre-mask. After using the product for 30 minutes, my chin looked more defined and in general, my face looked less bloated.
I followed the mask with a little facial massage with my rose quartz face roller (which I left in the fridge before using it) and the two together made a huge difference in bringing down the post-drinking puff. I used the mask again two days later (a fresh mask, not the same one!) to give it another go and while the difference wasn’t as stark as the first use, I was still pleased with the plumpness of my skin post-masking.

DfineWorld’s Chin Lifting Mask includes glycerin, to maintain the skin’s moisture level as well as propylene glycol to lock water into the skin. Hydrolysed collagen injects hydration while also boosting collagen density to help deter signs of ageing.
While the recommended use of the chin mask is two to three times a week for best results, I’ll be keeping these aside for those days when I want to tackle the puffiness in my face or before a special event. And, it should be noted that chin masks are most definitely not necessary but something fun to try should you be interested.
