Have you heard? Everyone’s favourite early noughties couple — and the OG celebrity portmanteau (sorry Brangelina!) — is back. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have reunited. In fact, a photo of them *post-sleepover* recently hit Twitter, showing just how much they’re back on.
The couple who began dating in 2002, quickly became engaged, before separating two years later citing “excessive media attention”. While their relationship was iconic, the pair also had some pretty iconic style moments (oh, Y2K fashion).
On April 15, JLo and her most recent ex-fiancé, Alex Rodriguez (a.k.a A-Rod), called it quits, releasing a joint statement saying that they were “better off as friends”.
ARod has stayed pretty mum about the rumoured couple, only making a cheeky comment about Ben and J.Lo’s reunion when prompted by reporters..until now that is.
The former Yankee’s baseballer took to his Instagram Stories in what many fans consider to be a response to the twosome. On a blank slate, the former player wrote: “I am about to step into a new beginning in my life.
“Anything that doesn’t serve me is clearing out of my life. New energy is emerging. New levels are unlocking for me mentally, physically, and spiritually. I am remaining patient and know that this new phase of my life is coming.”
In his defence, that’s a pretty positive statement — rare in the world on Instagram Story statements (or worse, Instagram Story apologies). However, according to E! News, despite the brave face on social media A-Rod is actually shocked by the news, as well as being “saddened.”
