12 of the Best Halloween Movies On Hulu, From “Beetlejuice” to “Hellraiser”
Hulu has some of the best Halloween movies you’ll find online. In fact, the platform prides itself so much on its spooky collection that it even launched a “Huluween” page full of the scariest movies and TV series in its current rotation. To help users decide what to watch, the page includes subcategories that range from action horror and horror comedies to supernatural thrillers and creepy sci-fi flicks. It even divides its content up depending on whether something is considered “scary,” “very scary,” or “very very scary.” With this in mind, Hulu has something for everyone this Halloween season.
While some of the films on Hulu include classics like “Beetlejuice” and “Alien,” it also has newer movies like “Escape Room” and “Haunt.” Of course, the streaming service also has plenty of originals that aren’t available anywhere else online, making the platform your ultimate Halloween destination. So, what should you watch first? Ahead, you’ll find 12 of the best Halloween movies on Hulu.
"Beetlejuice"
“Beetlejuice” is a Tim Burton-directed film about a couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) that find themselves living as ghosts after dying in a car accident. When they discover that a new family has moved into their home following their deaths, the couple recruits a mischievous spirit (Michael Keaton) to help scare them away and reclaim their home. I recommend watching this Halloween classic before “Beetlejuice 2” hits theaters in 2024.
"Annabelle"
“Annabelle,” which serves as a prequel to the 2013 film “The Conjuring,” centers around a couple’s vintage doll that gets possessed by a demon. “Annabelle”‘s plot is based on a story told by a pair of paranormal investigators named Ed and Lorraine Warren, who claim a woman began experiencing supernatural encounters after purchasing a doll for her daughter, Donna. If you’re looking for a movie that will send chills up your spine, this one will do just the trick.
"Agnes"
This horror film centers around a nun named Agnes who begins exhibiting strange behavior toward her convent. They believe she’s being possessed by a demon, so they call in a priest and his young deacon to come and help her return to normal. However, their involvement makes everything worse once Agnes’s behavior grows increasingly violent toward the other nuns.
"Haunt"
A group of friends gets more than what they bargained for when they find themselves trapped in a haunted house with masked performers intent on killing them. Since they had to surrender their phones before entering the building, the group has no way of contacting anyone for help. They desperately try to work together to escape before they’re all killed by the end of the night.
"Little Monsters"
“Little Monsters” isn’t your typical zombie apocalypse movie. In this horror comedy, Lupita Nyong’o stars as a kindergarten teacher named Miss Caroline, who is chaperoning her students on a field trip. As if she didn’t have her hands full already, Miss Caroline is forced to keep calm when the group finds itself in the middle of a zombie outbreak. To prevent the kids from getting scared, she pretends to play a game with her class so they can all make it out alive.
"Alien"
If you want to get into the “Alien” franchise, start from the beginning with the 1979 film. Set in the future, “Alien” follows a crew aboard a spaceship that comes into contact with a dangerous extraterrestrial. They’re attempting to return home when a distress signal makes them take a detour on a distant moon. After finding a nest, the crew must fight for their lives when one of the eggs breaks open, unleashing a mysterious and terrifying organism on the ship.
"Hellraiser"
“Hellraiser” is a remake of the 1987 film of the same name. The film follows a woman named Riley who finds an ancient puzzle box that summons a group of otherwordly beings called the Cenobites. After Riley successfully solves the box, the Cenobites appear and begin searching for people to sacrifice. When those around Riley begin to disappear, she embarks on a mission to investigate the secrets behind the mysterious box.
"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"
“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” is based on the 2010 novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith. The film takes place during the civil war and reimagines Abraham Lincoln as a secret vampire hunter who’s out for revenge. After a vampire kills his mother, Lincoln becomes determined to put an end to the monsters before they can take over the rest of the United States.
"Escape Room"
Six strangers enter an escape room in hopes of winning $10K. They compete against each other to solve a series of puzzles, but as they go further into the game, they realize there’s more at stake than just money when contestants start to die in the game. In order to survive, the contestants must rely not only on their wits, but pure luck.
"Alone At Night"
After Vicky’s (Ashley Benson) boyfriend breaks up with her and kicks her out, she goes to stay at her friend’s remote cabin in the woods to get away from it all. She plans on spending her week making videos on an adult streaming website in order to make some money. However, when strange things begin happening around her, Vicky suspects that someone may secretly be watching her and planning to kill her.
"Amulet"
Tomaz is an ex-soldier who suddenly finds himself homeless after his building catches fire. With nowhere else to go, Tomaz is forced to move in with a young woman named Magda and her sick mother in their London home. Although it’s on the brink of collapsing, Tomaz stays since he’s able to live there for free as long as he helps Magda around the house. As Tomaz grows closer to Magda over the course of the film, he also begins to suspect the building holds a dark secret that involves the old woman.
"Spree"
“Spree” is a satirical horror film starring Joe Keery as a young man named Kurt who is desperate to become a social media star. After failing to get any followers, Kurt decides to become a ride-share driver who kills his passengers and live streams their deaths for everyone to see. The movie is told through cellphone videos and dashcam footage, which only makes the film even more engrossing.
