Bridgerton Season 2 Is Filming Now, So When Will It Be on Netflix?
Pick up your dance card, put on your best gown, brew some tea, and find a comfy spot on the couch, because Bridgerton season two is officially in production. The highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s original series based on the novels from Julia Quinn was confirmed in an official statement from Lady Whistledown in January. “The incomparable cast of Bridgerton will return to production in the Spring of 2021,” she wrote. “This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen ready to report on any and all of his romantic activities.” Heart equals burning – I need answers, Ms Whistledown!
Netflix still hasn’t given an official release date of this series from Shondaland and creator Chris Van Dusen, so I’m channelling my inner Eloise and doing a little sleuthing of my own. Because of the buzz Bridgerton‘s first season received – notably, 82 million households watched it in its first 28 days – Netflix is sure to make filming, editing, and releasing of season two a priority. Season one premiered on Dec. 25, 2020, and it’s possible season two will come out at the end of 2021.
Season two is going to look a lot different – the focus will be on Anthony’s love story. We know Regé-Jean Page (Duke of Hastings) will not return (we still aren’t over it) and there will be four new characters with whom to fall in love. Charithra Chandran will play Edwina Sharma, Shelley Conn will play Mary Sharma, Calam Lynch will play Theo Sharpe, and Rupert Young will play Jack.
Seasons three and four have already been renewed by Netflix, with hopes to adapt all eight books showing all of the sibling’s love stories (when they’re old enough of course).
