The Summit is back for its second season in 2024, promising another exhilarating journey for both participants and viewers alike. Set in New Zealand’s South Island, this season sees 14 strangers coming together for the ultimate test.

At the heart of this journey is Simmone, who you might remember from the iconic series McLeod’s Daughters. But Simmone isn’t here for fame or fortune. She’s here to reclaim herself amidst the chaos of life. She is on a mission to prove that she’s still got what it takes to conquer any challenge thrown her way.

So, why did she join the show? For Simmone, it’s about overcoming the relentless trials that have marked the past two years of her life. From financial strain to family illness and personal health challenges, she’s weathered it all with unwavering resilience. Yet, amidst the chaos, she found herself losing more than just her footing; she lost her hair, her eyelashes, her eyebrows.

Why Simmone Joined The Summit

“The last two years have, by far, been my worst. I started a new business but the financial pressure is really intense,” she said in a press release. “My Dad is sick and we’re living in a shed and caravan at his place and my niece had a horrific accident. There’s just been lots happening. And I guess after two years of relentless pressure I lost my hair, even my eyelashes and eyebrows. so I need to do this for myself to prove I can.”

But Simmone refuses to be defined by her struggles. Embarking with her 13-year-old son as her inspiration, she aims to make her family proud and rediscover her strength. Carrying the weight of her past, she steps onto the trail with hope for a brighter future.

Navigating treacherous terrain and unpredictable conditions, Simmone relies on her innate resilience and the camaraderie of her fellow trekkers to push forward. Despite the challenges, she finds moments of connection and solace, drawing on the shared bond of McLeod’s Daughters to bridge the gap between strangers.

With each step, Simmone is not just conquering the mountain; she’s conquering her fears, her doubts, and the limitations that once held her back. And as she nears the summit, she stands tall, a testament to the power of perseverance and the indomitable spirit of the human soul.

The Summit airs on Sundays at 7.00pm and continue Monday and Tuesday at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
