“Completely Blindsided Me”: Krystal Reveals What Really Happened With Paddy Post-FBOY Island

FBOY Island Australia has taken the country by storm, and what a wild ride it’s been. Throughout the season, we fell in love with fan-favourite Krystal, who stayed true to herself while navigating the chaos of dating a bunch of Fboys. In the end, she found herself torn between Paddy and Doug, a choice that was anything but easy for her right up until the last moment. Ultimately, she went with her heart and chose Patty.

However, as the season wrapped up, we couldn’t help but wonder if reality TV romance could truly translate into something real once the cameras stopped rolling.

Speaking with POPSUGAR Australia, Krystal opened up about where things stand with Paddy now, dropped some hints about a new love interest, and let us in on her plans for that $50k prize money.

FBOY Island Finale: Why Krystal Chose Paddy Over Doug

When it came to the FBOY Island finale, Krystal admitted that choosing between Paddy and Doug was no small feat. “It was a real conundrum,” she confessed. “One minute it’ll be Doug, then it’d be Paddy. In that last second [in the finale], when I decided, 10 seconds before I wanted Doug, I was genuinely so, so stuck.” In that moment of uncertainty, she ultimately chose Paddy, believing he had the most potential for a long-term relationship.

She added: “It really came down to was thinking about longevity — who I see as my future. I felt Paddy had the most potential with me, so it just felt right in that moment.”

Are Krystal and Paddy Still Together?

However, as FBOY Island wrapped up, it became apparent that reality TV romance doesn’t always translate into real-life love.

“Unfortunately Paddy and I are not together anymore, he completely blindsided me during the show,” she admitted. “The nice guy act he put on for me and viewers is not what was true after cameras stopped rolling. I think if anyone were to ask can FBoy be reformed, I’d say definitely not and Paddy is the clear example of that.”

She added: “It’s hard watching the season back as I think his intent was very clear from the beginning and I wish I’d have seen his real side sooner.”

Reflecting on the breakup, Krystal admitted that both parties need to be fully invested for a relationship to work. “I just know my standards, and I know what I deserve,” she explained. “I think both parties have to give a hundred percent, otherwise it’s not going to work.”

Has She Reached Out to Doug?

Even though Krystal’s relationship with Paddy didn’t last, we were curious if there might be a chance for Krystal to reconnect with Doug and whether she’s been in touch with him at all. While Krystal spoke fondly of Doug, she emphasised the importance of moving forward rather than dwelling on the past.

“I haven’t actually intimately reached out to him. I just think it was such a hard situation,” she admitted. “I do wish him all the best, of course. But yeah, I just think it would just be a bit unfair for me to then go back and try to push something to make it work with Doug. I think he’s just such a beautiful human being. I just want him to be someone that’s like him.”

There’s a New Man In Krystal’s Life

With Paddy and Doug officially off the table, there’s a new romance blossoming in Krystal’s life — and she hinted that we might just recognise him. When we asked about her current relationship status, Krystal couldn’t help but share her excitement about being back in the dating scene.

“I’ve always got to put myself first,” she said, reflecting on the valuable lessons she’s learned from her time on the show. “It’s been a journey of pushing myself to be open and let new people in.”

She added: “I’m back dating! I’m talking to someone. I know, very exciting. Yeah, you might know him, you might not. But yeah, I’m excited to see where it’s going to go. I didn’t see this one coming, but I feel my life is just sort of chaos. I’m just like, ‘what’s next, babe’?”

While she didn’t spill the beans on his identity just yet, Krystal teased that this new guy has “dabbled” in reality TV himself. Could it be Caleb from FBoy Island? Who knows. But one thing’s for sure: we’ll definitely be watching this space for her hard or soft launch.

How She’s Spending Her Prize Money

Although Krystal’s romance with Paddy didn’t pan out, she’s still got a solid plan for her share of the $50,000 prize money. So, what’s she going to do with it?

“Well, in my head, I went in there thinking that I wasn’t going to win, I think just to protect myself,” she explained. “So I just, I think I’m going to put it towards, I’m doing a huge trip around America next year with my best friend, so it’ll go towards that. And then also just pay for a house. I think it’s just going to go towards doing some adult things.”
