There is nothing wrong with teaching children to wash their face and apply moisturiser and if it’s kept simple like this it will do no harm to their skin. Similar to Bubble, Sol De Janerio has grabbed the attention of Gen Alpha thanks to its bright packaging and good enough to eat scents. I am not a massive fan of applying lots of fragrance to very young skin so prefer the mists to the body lotions. My daughter adores these body mists as they make her feel grown up, yet the scents are still young and fresh enough not to feel overpowering or too “old”. I told her to spray it in the air around her and then spin around to allow the scent to waft over her, which she also finds really fun and I think keeps it quite childish and playful.

This is one of the gifts I would recommend to older tweens and teens rather than under 10s, as it contains far more ingredients than young skin actually needs. It shouldn’t harm younger faces, however there are more chances of having a reaction to these ingredients than formulas like Bubble as it is designed to help soothe the skin’s barrier not just hydrate. That doesn’t mean I don’t rate Byoma, as I absolutely do and I think as a brand it is really great at getting a simple skincare message to its customers. This mini set will appeal to all the skincare addicts and the bottles will look cute on every vanity (FYI that’s the other item all the tweens I know have asked Santa for this year.)

This brand was designed for teen skin so you can feel rest assured it is safe for young people to use. The brand itself launched last year and stocks everything from pH changing lip oils to clear mascara, appealing to what teens and tweens want without it being too grown up. This discovery set is ideal for those who prefer to buy products they know will work for young skin, in packaging tweens and teens will still love.

Wild Refillable Deodorant (from £12)

One of my best decisions was to switch to natural deodorant a few years ago, not only because I know very rarely suffer from body odour but with all the known risks of some deodorants being endocrine disruptors I wanted to minimise any risks of my hormones being affected as I enter the perimenopause. When it comes to my daughter I started to noticed a slight pong after sports or a long day, after I finished panicking and did some research I found that this is very normal for tweens. I started to introduce natural deodorants, like Wild, and we have never looked back. These funky holders also make it a more enjoyable product to use rather than a necessity and we both enjoy choosing our scents and adding them to our case. Right now we can’t decide if we like Fresh Cotton & Sea Salt or Coconut and Vanilla better. . .

I’m quite happy for my daughter to use skincare but I am not so keen on makeup, I don’t think its necessary and I think the longer you can hold off using it the better. However she has been asking me for clear mascara and an eye lash curler for a while now and I wonder how long it will be before she’s sneaking into my room to apply mine. This heated lash curler is the ideal gift for those who want to wear false lashes as they get older, or mascara for school and it is not allowed, as it gives your lashes a lift without the need for any additional products.

I rate this gift set so much I have even bought it for a few of my daughter’s friends for their birthday. It contains a bath wash, body mist, body butter and a bath bomb so tweens feel like they are getting a really grown up present but in fact it is just products they probably use all the time anyway. It has a very young, playful scent that tweens will adore too.

Laneige Midnight Minis Set (£18)

Is there any difference between a lip balm and a lip mask? No one really knows (including this former beauty editor) however these days it doesn’t really matter as these Laneige lip masks are some of the most sought after beauty products around.
