Amazon Australia’s heard you loud and clear and from Wednesday, August 21, the e-tailer’s launched same-day delivery for Prime members in Sydney. This means if you’re a Prime member living in Sydney and order something before midday, you’ll get it delivered before 10pm that day.
There’s fine print of course. As mentioned you have to be an Amazon Prime member which is $9.99 per month or $79 for the year. The item has to be eligible for same-day service (there are over a million eligible items) and the total order value has to be over $49. You also need to live within the Sydney delivery area — you can view the eligible postcodes here.
“We know that busy Australians appreciate the time saved and the reliability of knowing that their order will arrive when we say it will,” says Janet Menzies, country manager for Amazon Australia.
A report out today by Mandala Partners found that in the last decade, faster online delivery times are estimated to have provided almost $350 million of value to consumers through improved convenience and time-saved.
