When it came to the Met Gala 2021, there were quite a few big beauty debuts. Model Gigi Hadid arrived a redhead, Hailee Steinfeld showed up a platinum blonde , and Storm Reid wowed everyone with her new new golden blonde pixie. But that wasn’t all the beauty newness that made its way on the red carpet. One of our favourite natural and carbon-neutral beauty brands, HIGHR Collective, made its Met Gala debut on on model Anja Rubik, and we got all the details.
Rubik turned heads in a feathered Saint Laurent gown, designed by artistic and creative director Anthony Vaccarello. But the true moment was captured with her makeup. After prepping the skin with 111 Skin products, makeup artist Georgi Sandev focused his creativity on contrasting the drama and edge of a cat eye with a soft nude lip, courtesy of one of HIGHR Collective’s newest launches, the lipstick shade called It Was All a Dream. The sheer toffee colour was part of the natural makeup brand’s New Nude Collection, which launched earlier this year in the UK and US and became part of its core collection. The range is formulated with organic plant oils, waxes, and butters that that intensely hydrate, plump, and moisturise the lips whilst you wear it. “I chose HIGHR Collective’s It Was All A Dream because the shade resembles Anja’s natural lip colour and adds a soft sheen without looking heavy or distracting,” Sandev told POPSUGAR of his choice. “We wanted to create a beautiful lip, which looks like a slightly enhanced version of her natural lip, and this was the perfect shade of nude.”
Using a light conditioning balm as preparation before applying the lipstick, it paved way for the buttery and silky texture of the perfect nude lipstick. Sandev notes that by pressing the pigment into the lip, it created the perfect warmth from the finger that softened the colour for a smooth and natural finish.
While this lipstick is currently available in Australia, we love a carbon-neutral beauty moment!
