We were extremely saddened to report on the closure of Australian-founded beauty brand BECCA Cosmetics when it was announced earlier this year. The brand, which was founded in Perth in 2001 before being bought by Estèe Lauder Companies in 2016, will officially close on September 30.
Thankfully, this time we are here with some good news regarding BECCA and its cult products. Once the beauty brand closes at the end of September, you’ll still be able to get your hands on BECCA’s Under Eye Brightening Corrector and the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter.
How, you ask? It’s all thanks to Smashbox Cosmetics, which will be giving a home to the two products under its own brand from October this year. The Smashbox Loves BECCA partnership will allow you to still shop the same two iconic product formulations in some slightly updated packaging.
According to the Smashbox website, the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter will be available in more shades, as will the Under Eye Brightening Corrector, which is “coming soon in an expanded shade range”. While this move is definitely surprising, when you consider the fact that both beauty brands are owned by Estèe Lauder Companies, it makes a lot of sense.
While this is indeed happy news, it doesn’t seem like Smashbox will carry over any other BECCA products. When a fan on Instagram asked if the brand would also be taking over BECCA’s bronzers, Smashbox ruled it out, saying: “There are no additional plans for Smashbox to launch any additional BECCA products”.
In the meantime, if you want to stock up on BECCA products, you can currently score 50 percent off when shopping via the BECCA website. Sephora Australia is also offering significant discounts on the brand, so best to head there for a BECCA bargain. Otherwise, you can find the two most popular BECCA products residing on the Smashbox Cosmetics website from October.
