I’m a Face Mist Convert and These Are the Ones I Always Keep Close By

I never had much affection for face mists until a few years ago, mostly because I didn’t see the value in them. A makeup setting spray? Sure! But a water-based face mist? Not for me. That was until a friend introduced me to Jurlique’s Rosewater Balancing Mist and soon after, I was hooked. Just a few years later and I’m a full face mist convert. I have multiple in my bedroom as well as ones scattered across my various handbags and at my desk at work — basically, I’ve made sure that I can access a face mist whenever I need to.

So, why am I now completely committed to face mists? Well, a number of reasons. First of all, a quick mist instantly freshens and revives my makeup. I have dry skin and a quick spritz of a face mist helps to refresh any makeup that is looking dull or cakey in a literal instant. During winter especially, I find face mists provide a much-needed burst of hydration and moisture, which is particularly helpful in the office environment where my skin is at its driest.

These products are also handy when it comes to skincare application. Misting your face between cleansing and serum application helps to dampen the skin, and in turn, allows for better absorption of the products. And, in most cases, you end up using less product as your skin is already quite moist.

I’ve rounded up some of my favourite face mists below — I have all of these in constant rotation and continue to repurchase them when they are empty. If you’re new to the hydrating world of face mists, welcome. It’s good to have you.

Caudalie

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

I couldn’t possibly pick one favourite face mist but if I did, Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir ($84) would be a strong contender. I use this face mist every single day without fail. I spritz my skin in the morning before popping on my SPF and then again after I’ve applied my makeup, to insert some hydration. I also use this at night, before applying my serum and moisturiser. This is definitely my most used face mist as its super gentle, smooths out makeup and gives my skin a healthy glow.

Jurlique

Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist

The mist that started it all! Jurlique’s Rosewater Balancing Mist ($52) feels so luxurious and lovely. I rely on this baby a lot during summer — nothing feels so cooling as a spritz of this face mist. It’s also great for freshening up makeup and making dull skin look re-energised.

Amazon

Weleda Hydrating Facial Mist

A more recent discovery, Weleda’s Hydrating Facial Mist ($23.16) is formulated with prickly pear cactus and has a lovely fresh scent. The plastic bottle of this one makes it perfect for my handbag so I always have this on hand to inject moisture and refresh both my skin and makeup.

Drunk Elephant

Drunk Elephant Sweet Biome™ Fermented Sake Spray

When my skin is in need of a little soothing skincare, Drunk Elephant’s Sweet Biome™ Fermented Sake Spray ($64) is the mist I turn to. Filled with fermented sake extract, kombucha, coconut water and a whole host of natural minerals, this face mist instantly calms redness and leaves tight skin feeling soft and supple.

Natio

Natio Rosewater Hydration Drench Mineral Face Mist

Natio’s Rosewater Hydration Drench Mineral Face Mist ($13) currently lives on my desk at work and is the perfect budget-friendly option for a high quality mist. This is the one I turn to to rehydrate my air conditioning-induced dry skin and I always spritz a little on to smooth my makeup before a meeting or event. It’s the perfect spray to have deskside or on your bedside table.
