Press on nail kits have come a long way since I was a child. Before graduating to semi-permanent acrylic nails (which I was obsessed with for about two years in high school), there was press on nails. These kits were cheap, easy to use and were widely available in chemists and as a pre-teen, these ticked all of my boxes.
Many, many years later, the quality of press on nail kits has skyrocketed and the designs are no longer as garish as the ones from my childhood. In fact, the press on nails available in 2021 feature similar designs to those you’d see gracing the Instagram pages of your favourite nail artists.
While we love going to the nail salon to have our nails cared for, it’s not always possible. Whether your local salons are closed due to lockdown measures, you simply forgot to make an appointment before a special event or you can’t be bothered doing your own mani, these are the perfect way to achieve polished, fun nails in a matter of minutes.

Leopard print has been pushed to the side in favour of cow print nails! You can find some pretty incredible cow patterned press on nails, like these Cow Print French Press On Nails ($32.41) from Etsy seller TranquiliteLondon. Featuring the classic Deep French style, these are perfect for those who want to try out the trend with little commitment.

Sydney-based nail artist Victoria Houllis (also known as Mannequin Hands) creates wild and wonderful press on nail designs for those who want to rock something a little more eye-catching. The Watercolour Smile Press-On Set ($75) is a particular favourite and because it is custom made, can be ordered in three sizes: small, medium and large.
Marmalade
Selena Gomez’s ‘French twist with a flipside’ manicure was the topic of much conversation when she debuted the nail art in May this year. Much like a Christian Louboutin shoe, Gomez’s nails had a red underside and you can now replicate this style with Marmalade’s Love Below Press On Nails ($23).

You can barely tell that TranquiliteLondon’s Rainbow Abstract Press On Nails ($32.41) are false, thanks to the intricate design. These nails are high quality and should last up to two weeks (or three if you take good care of them).
Marmalade
Marmalade’s Mirror Mirror Press On Nails ($23) are a statement set thanks to the reflective liquid chrome finish that gives your nails a mirror-like surface. Once applied, you can file these nails down to your desired length with the nail file included in the kit.
Kmart
While these are technically designed for kids, chances are they might fit you! A great budget-friendly option, Kmart’s Stick On Nails ($4) come in a variety of designs, including this sweet daisy pattern.
