You’ve probably matched your manicure to the season, the nearest holiday, or even your zodiac sign, but celebrities are taking it a step further. As of late, the hottest nail trend is to match your nails to your jewellery. It’s over-the-top and a bit high maintenance, but that’s exactly the type of energy we want to carry with us into spring.
Selena Gomez, Blake Lively, and Jodie Turner-Smith are among the celebrities who’ve jumped on board the matching-jewellery nail-art trend. At the SAG Awards in February, Gomez wore green nail polish by celebrity manicurist Tom Bachick that perfectly mirrored the sparkly emerald ring on her middle finger. Then, in early March for the premiere of “The Adam Project,” Lively’s mini-moon nail art by manicurist Elle Gerstein featured shades of baby pink and soft brown, which complemented not only the pink diamond and gemstone bracelet she was wearing but also her dress. Most recently, for the Critics’ Choice Awards, Turner-Smith, with the help of manicurist Natalie Minerva, wore a stunning emerald and diamond manicure on a neutral nail-polish base. The embellishments on her nails matched the gems on her rings, bracelet, and tiara, creating quite the statement look.
