Looking for an Autumn Scent? Cherry Perfume Is Having a Big Moment
As a former beauty editor I’m used to hearing about the latest trends, but it always entertains me when one ingredient, colour, or scent seems to come out of nowhere and take its place as the trend du jour and for 2024 it without doubt cherry. It appears we are all suckers for this small, round succulent fruit. Especially cherry perfume.
Picking up where we left off last autumn, we have started to see cherry gain momentum again after the success of cherry hair and mocha cherry (yup, this was a thing) nails. However this year it seems we are also going nuts for anything cherry scented.
The most interesting aspect of the cherry trend is how it seems to work along the whole spectrum, from its colour being either bright red to rich burgundy, to its scent crossing from the super sweet to sour and tart. Which is probably why it has gained so many fans, as it doesn’t pigeon-hole itself into either camp, so it has mass appeal.

One of the key momentum drivers in the scent sphere for autumn 2024 has been the eagerly anticipated third Sabrina Carpenter perfume Sweet Tooth Cherry Dreams. Where she previously gave us Sweet Tooth and Sweet Tooth Caramel Dream, she is now all about the cherry and it seems fans are desperate to give it a sniff. This new perfume is also providing an entry level into cherry for many who have been priced out of buying many of the other cherry-heavy premium scents.
Why cherry is having a moment is all down to its unique combination of boldness and sweetness according to Michelle Feeney, founder of Floral Street and industry expert. “There’s something irresistible about that juicy, ripe cherry note – it feels playful, but with a depth that makes it stand out.” she tells PS UK. “It’s perfect for those who want a fragrance that’s fun yet sophisticated.”

This fragrance has a slightly older appeal, leaning on cherry, peony and poppy as its fruity-floral base combined with her signature chocolate and vanilla undertones. This isn’t for everyone but if you like sweet, floral scents then I would recommend giving it a go or gifting it to the tween in your life.
