Fenty Beauty changed the game when it first launched in 2017 with 40 foundation shades. While the pace at which foundation shades are becoming more inclusive is disappointing, Fenty Beauty has set an industry standard and has since added another 10 shades to its original foundation launch.
The brand continues to grow in leaps and bounds, with its latest development designed to make choosing your foundation shade even easier. It’s no secret that picking your perfect colour match is a tricky task, especially when you’re purchasing online as it’s hard to get a feel for the shades in relation to your skin tone.
The Fenty Face Shade Finder allows you to compare foundation shades and find your perfect match in the Pro Filt’r Foundation ranges. The technology also recommends other Fenty Beauty products that would work with your skin tone.
All you have to do is answer a few questions in the Shade Finder quiz, which starts off by asking you to select the image of a model that looks closest to your skin tone. The next question asks what tone of jewellery you best in, either silver/platinum, yellow gold or both. This helps determine what your undertone is.
The next question asks how your skin reacts to the sun, with answers including that it burns easily, sometimes burns or rarely burns and tans easily, which is then followed up by a query about the colour of the veins on your wrist.
After a few more steps, you’ll be given your Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r shade number as well as your skin type. The quiz found that I have “very fair skin with cool pink undertones” and this is completely on the money!
To make sure you’re completely happy with this shade decision, it’s time to try it on thanks to the Fenty Beauty Virtual Shade Try-On tool. This handy piece of technology has been built into the Fenty Beauty website, so you can try it on before making your foundation purchase.
Simply select the Try Shade On button and it will ask to access your camera. From here you’ll be able to try on a bunch of different shades to ensure the quiz has given you the best match.
