Calling All Green Thumbs: MECCA IS Giving Away 200 Free Plants This Weekend
Since April 27, beauty retailer MECCA has been celebrating MECCALIFE — a monthlong experiential campaign that has included an impressive line-up of physical and virtual services, panels and events that will wrap up on May 23. To mark the occasion of MECCA’s very first dedicated wellness campaign, the Sydney flagship store was decorated with greenery.
The living art installation, which was designed by Melbourne-based florist Candy MT, combines air-purifying plants and edible herbs and was created to reflect the principles of MECCALIFE — to make you feel good. On Sunday, May 23, the team will begin to dismantle the installation and will be giving away a number of potted plants for free.
Starting at 10am on the ground floor of MECCA’s Sydney flagship store, customers will be able to take home a living piece of the installation, ensuring none of the MECCALIFE decorations goes to waste. There are approximately 200 pot plants to be given away, which will happen on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of one plant per person.
The plants and herbs used within the installation were chosen specifically based on their calming qualities. “The greenery and florals in the installation have been carefully selected by Candy MT to stoke serenity and curiosity within the mind, body and soul,” MECCA said in a press release.
“Visually, the soft cascading plants of clematis, thyme and swooning salvias add a soft naturalistic feel to our urban environment and the various shades of green help calm. The sage and rosemary provide mental focus, while rosehips reduce inflammation and promote healthy skin.”
It’s safe to say that the installation is downright dreamy and by taking home a piece of the MECCALIFE art, it’s a great reminder to slow down and connect with beauty in meaningful ways. Grab your free plant from 10am on Sunday, May 23 at MECCA George St, located at 49-51 Market Street, Sydney.
