Glossier has released its latest offering into the beauty world: retinol! This is a big step for the brand, which is best known for its basic, everyday essentials like Boy Brow, Futuredew and Cloud Paint, as it has officially entered the world of preventative skincare.
As is Glossier’s modus operandi when it comes to product formulations, this newly released retinol, called Universal Pro-Retinol (US$35), is designed to be easily accessible and suit most skin types. Retinol can be harsh for some skin, but this baby is designed to be nourishing.
Created with 0.5 percent pro-retinol in the form of Retinyl Sunflowerate — a hybrid of pure retinol and sunflower seed fatty acids — this product promises to improve the appearance of fine lines, dark spots, blemishes, pores and uneven skin tone. And, whether you’re a first-time retinol user, a long-time retinol lover or someone who has acne, dry, oily or combination skin, this product should work for you.
“When it comes to many skin frustrations, retinoids are that thing — a catch-all ingredient touted for improving nearly everything from texture and blemishes to fine lines and uneven tone,” said Glossier’s senior director of product marketing and development, Chenaya Devine-Milbourn.
“But somehow, this most celebrated skincare ingredient is also the most complicated, and we were craving a more straightforward experience. One that didn’t compromise on powerful, visible results, but held your hand a bit more; for whether you’re a first-time user or a retinoid expert looking for the ultimate forever formula.”
So, how do you get your hands on it in Australia, you ask, especially considering Glossier doesn’t ship here? Well, say hello to your new best friend, the Australia Post ShopMate service. Here’s how it works: you sign up to ShopMate and you’re given a ShopMate US address, which you pop in as the delivery address on your order.
Then, your order will be delivered to the US warehouse and processed before being sent to you in Australia. This service is undoubtedly handy but we also must mention the price tag attached to it. ShopMate charges a $25.25 shipping base rate per parcel plus $5.45 weight rate per 500g.
A book, for example, could cost you around $35 just in shipping, so keep this in mind when placing your Glossier order as you’ll need to pay for the shipping to Australia later on. But, for those who are missing their Glossier favourites, it could prove worth the extra money spent on shipping.
