Maya Jama’s star is shining brightly. Fresh from her debut as the new “Love Island” presenter, Jama has been announced as the global brand ambassador for iconic beauty brand, Rimmel London. The 28-year-old has long been serving us lust-worthy beauty looks, particularly alongside her show-stopping “Love Island” outfits, so she really is the perfect choice to join forces with the brand.
“I am so excited to be the new ambassador for the brand. I’ve always loved how makeup makes me feel – for me, it’s a form of self-expression. Rimmel
encourages people to reinvent the rules and love themselves for who they are, which is so liberating. I can’t wait to continue the message of beauty individuality,” Jama said of her new role. Following in the footsteps of Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Adwoa Aboah, and the first male ambassador, Tom Daley, is something that Jama does not take for granted, declaring it a “dream come true” as she aims to encapsulate the “London look” tagline of the cruelty-free brand.
And the announcement didn’t go unnoticed – literally. On 30 March, Jama’s face was shone virtually onto the side of Tower Bridge. At 61 metres wide, the hologram saw Jama pictured in front of a Union Jack flag to cement her new ambassadorship. Having moved to the capital from Bristol at the age of 16, she considers herself an honorary Londonder so we have no doubt she will be flying the flag for more super cool looks.
This isn’t Jama’s first foray into the beauty world, either. She is the founder of MIJ masks, a brand full of hydrating masks and de-puffing eye patches. No wonder she looked so good travelling back and forth to South Africa for “Love Island” last month. As she prepares for the summer series, she will also be fronting Rimmel London’s new iconic foundation later this year – we already can’t wait!
