The Four New Beauty Brands you NEED on Your Radar

There always seems to be a new beauty launch or game-changing brand coming through and it can often feel exhausting to keep up with the ever-moving beauty world. Not only are there new products, but there’s also new ingredients to be aware of that claim to transform your skincare routine. And before you have even learned to pronounce hyaluronic acid you’re told the next big ingredient is taking its place (Pentavitin, in case you were wondering!)

As a beauty editor I often get sent lots of new brands to try out and although there are so many I really like, it takes an exceptional product to really make me stop and switch it into my permanent collection. But over the last year I have tried a few brands that have really impressed me and I think will continue to make moves in the industry as we enter 2025. A few of them launched in 2023, however it’s really only been the last few months, and certain new products, which have made me stop and take notice.

From a dermatologist-led body care line to a Medispa skincare range, to a rebrand from Laneige’s sister company there is something here to make you stop and take notice. Read on to find out why these brands have managed to impress me and why I think they’re worth considering.

Dr Somji Skincare

Chances are if you’re into skin you would have heard of London-based Dr Medispa – with a client list like a who’s who of reality TV, including Samantha Faiers, Amber Davies, Nicola Hughes, Georgia Steel, and Jamie Laing, it has become a go-to for many seeking a flawless, youthful complexion.

Dr Somji Skincare was developed by internationally renowned cosmetic surgeon Dr Munir Somji and his wife, medical aesthetician and skincare expert Henal Somji. Together, they drew upon over a decade of collective knowledge, experience and expertise in addressing problem skin concerns in clinic, to formulate what they believe is a hardworking one-stop skincare solution.

I was pretty impressed with the streamlined offering as I have found that lots of brands try to do too much and cover as many different areas as they can, when in reality we don’t need a 15-step skincare routine.

The range includes a Dr Sonmji Detoxifying Charcoal Cleanser (£40) which I was initially amused to see as I haven’t used a charcoal cleanser for years, preferring balms or oil cleansers, yet after a week of use I have to say I am converted. It draws out the impurities without leaving skin feeling tight or dry. I have also used the Dr Somji Skincare Anti-Redness Concentrate (£45) which has taken down the red patches on my cheeks in a few days.

Innisfree

Ok, so this isn’t a new brand per se but it is a new rebrand from the same Korean beauty company who owns Laneige and looks set to have its own viral social media moment very soon. The range is designed to offer innovative beauty solutions powered by the finest natural ingredients, responsibly sourced from Korea’s pristine Jeju Island. The island has volcanic origins, making it a fertile oasis with a unique ecosystem.

One of the brand’s newest launches since its redesign is Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF30 (£17, originally £22). I’m not a big fan of thick facial SPFs and this one sinks into the skin without any stickiness or white cast.

I’m also a big fan of the Innisfree Green Tea Amino Acid Foaming Facial Cleanser (£16) as it quite a substantial bottle and you really don’t need a lot once it foams up with water, making it exceptionally good value for money.

Joonbyrd

When the well-respected dermatologist Dr Alexis Granite (who has worked with skincare giants like Cerave) launched Joonbyrd it was always going to grab my attention. Not just the gorgeous packaging that makes the whole range just feel so much fun, but the quality of the ingredients and how it feels on your skin. I have to admit I am not one for looking after the skin on my body well (the shame as a beauty editor) however the Joonbyrd Sunday Sofa Rejuvenation Body Butter (£62) could very much change that.

This ultra luxe body cream not only smells divine, I applied it at night before I went to bed and my skin still felt moisturised the next evening. It hydrated my skin for over 24 hours and got rid of all the dry skin after one use. It is an absolute pleasure to use and I can’t wait to try more of the range.

bleunour.com

Bleu Nour

This perfume company launched at the back end of 2023, however it has really come into its own in 2024. When I first smelt the fragrances I couldn’t work out if I hated them or loved them, but after wearing Bleu Nour Cendre-et Or (£139) a few times and letting it settle onto my skin I have become addicted to its unusual scent. On the first sniff you can smell the cardamon and the rose, but after a while the deeper notes start to come through. It contains oud, however it us unlike any oud I have ever smelt, yet has all the warmth and deepness of traditional Arabian ouds.

If you’re into individual and unique scents then this is a brand for you, I would recommend looking at Bleu Noir Canna Crush (£36) which you can buy as a perfume oil too if you want to try it out before buying a full size. This has notes of cannabis and leather and making it an ultra sexy unisex scent.
