Gwyneth Paltrow Says Her Daughter Leaving For College Is a “Profound” Milestone
Gwyneth Paltrow‘s eldest child, Apple, is headed off to college soon, and as with any family, her departure signifies the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
“I know this sounds nuts,” Paltrow said in an interview on CBS Sunday Morning as she began to speak about Apple going off to college. “But it feels almost as profound as giving birth.” Although we don’t yet know what school her daughter will be attending or what she will be studying, Paltrow has previously congratulated her recent graduate, posting an Instagram Story with her former husband, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, whom she “consciously uncoupled” with in 2016 after 13 years of marriage.
Although the two are now separated, Paltrow explained that Martin is still “completely my family,” adding that, “He would do anything for me. I would do anything for him. He would do anything for our kids. We really did commit to wanting our children to be as unscathed by the divorce as possible.”
In addition to 18-year-old Apple, Paltrow and Martin also share 16-year-old Moses, who is just a few years from potentially following in his sister’s footsteps. Plus, Paltrow’s husband, Brad Falchuk, has two kids of his own, which means she has a bigger blended family now.
With Apple off to school and the Goop CEO turning 50 this week, there are a lot of big milestones coming up for the entire family. But as Paltrow shared on Instagram, she’s already grateful for what the past few months have taught her, writing, “Summer 2022, you brought it all unsparingly. Elation, adventure, transition, joy and heartbreak alike. Thank you for your reminders, connections and deepenings.” Now, it seems she’s ready for the next step in her and Apple’s journey, wherever it may take them both.
