Happy “Barbie” movie release month to all those who celebrate. Ever since the first official look arrived in the summer of 2022, the anticipation for the upcoming Margot Robbie-led flick has been sky high, sparking a renewed interest in the incredibly eye-pleasing and vibrant (read: predominantly pink) aesthetic, which the fans aptly dubbed the “Barbiecore.” Aside from taking over the sartorial world by storm, the resurged trend has also taken on a life of its own in the beauty sphere, with many celebrities embracing the massive comeback of the nostalgic Y2K trend.

As Robbie continues on her press tour for the film, she has paid homage to the long-standing franchise by serving up many iconic Barbie-inspired spins on the ongoing trend, including her quintessentially “perfect” pink Barbie nails and pink chrome manicure at recent press junket stops. With Greta Gerwig’s directorial movie inches closer to its July 21 release date, the Barbiecore aesthetic has reached a fever pitch, with more and more people incorporating the trend into their mood boards – and especially their manicures.

Considering pink is among the polish colors that serve as an instant serotonin booster and uplifts your mood, it’s no surprise the Barbiecore nails are all the rage nowadays. At the Los Angeles premiere, Issa Rae’s Barbie nails – featuring a split french manicure using two shades of pink, painted on by celebrity manicurist Eri Ishizu – were boss b*tch approved. “Issa has been in the mood for pink,” Ishizu tells POPSUGAR in a press release. “Using the signature color and embracing the playfulness of Barbie, I put a spin on the regular french mani, creating an abstract version.”
