Pip Edwards Let Us Peek Inside Her Handbag
Pip Edwards is the creative director of activewear and streetwear brand P.E Nation, a media personality and a mum to a teenager. It’s safe to say she’s busy. For those long days, she carries everything she might need in a Burberry Knight Bag — “it’s a great everyday throw-around bag”.
Among the things she carries in it are Hydralyte Electrolyte Effervescent Orange Tablets. She doesn’t add the tablets to water, as they’re meant to be consumed — instead she puts them straight on her tongue.
“It’s like a little boost of energy but also a sugar hit because I need that along the way,” she says. “When it hits 3’o o’clock is when I get my slump. People are like, ‘Oh you need that in water’. But I’m obsessed with eating it like a lolly. It’s like a fizz whizz. It gives me everything I need.”
Edwards also carries in her bag keys on a lanyard, two pens, a Gucci card holder, business cards (the most recent are from suppliers she met on a business trip to Hong Kong), nuts, ginger lollies (“for another little sugar hit”) and AirPods. Oh, and lots of beauty products. “You’ve got to have all these things, right?,” she says.
Here’s a breakdown of all the makeup and skincare she keeps in her bag, most of them products she says she “can’t live without”.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Skin Protectant Cream, $33
“I have Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream — honestly, old school,” Edwards says. “I’ve been wearing this since my 20s. I can’t live without it. I put it all over my face and let me tell you, my skin soaks up so much because it’s so dehydrated.”
KMS Moist Repair Hydrating Oil, $38.95
Next is KMS Moisture Repair Hydrating Oil. Made with aloe vera and avocado oil, it promises to be non-greasy and to absorb quickly.
“Years of torture, years of bleaching, saga of my life,” says Edwards. “Going grey. This is my moisture on the run bottle. Through times like Fashion Week and when I’ll be busy, I need to keep my hair hydrated like my body.”
Tom Ford Ombre Leather Eau De Parfum, $260-$480
Edwards also keeps a 100ml Tom Ford Ombre Leather perfume in her bag. “My signature,” she says. “Can’t live without that.”
NARS The Multiple, $65
Next up is a NARS highlighter, which comes in six colours and Edwards has it in South Beach. It’s a cream-to-powder makeup stick that can be used for highlighting, sculpting and adding colour. Edwards uses it on her cheeks to brighten up the area.
MAC Pro Face Palette: Contour, $67
“I wear foundation in the morning but this is for upkeep during the day,” she says. “It’s not about wearing foundation, it’s just about keeping it fresh. This palette’s got all the things I need.”
“From a contour, a bit of a blush, and then a bit of an eyeshadow and sometimes that goes along the highlighter. That’s every girl’s dream, by the way. Hot tip: MAC, all the four colours you need in life for your face. It’s a quick fix, it’s everything.”
MAC Strobe Face Glaze, $44
Another MAC product Edwards keeps in her bag is an illuminator in balm form. The product promises to stay in place but is still lightweight enough to wear comfortably.
“This is the other amazing highlighter which I love,” Edwards says. “These are the things, right? Your day gets so inundated and jampacked. This is what keeps you looking alive.”
MAC In Extreme Dimension 24-Hour Kajal Eye Liner, $32
Edwards is known for her cat-eye eyeliner. What she uses to get that look is this “trusty little kohl pencil”, creamy black liner that promises to stay for 24 hours without smudging or transferring. Rimmel Liquid Exaggerate Eye Liner ($9.29) also helps her achieve that cat-eye.
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm, $40
For lips, Edwards uses this “great little lip gloss, which is my favourite”. It comes in nine shades and Edwards uses the Vanilla Beige.
Lucas Papaw Ointment, $7.99
“I even carry two papaw,” Edwards says. “I’m a dewy girl. I love to be dewy because I think that’s what keeps my skin looking hydrated and fresh.”
