Shay Mitchell proves red hair is still very much in. The actor and founder of luggage brand Béis, who typically wears her dark-brown hair in sleek styles, revealed her new hair colour – a rich auburn hue – on her Instagram Stories on Sept. 21 before taking the fresh look to the Fendi show at Milan Fashion Week. Though she’s played around with balayage and highlights, this is the first time we’ve seen the entrepreneur with red hair colour.
Hairstylist Jesus Guerrero, who recently gave Kylie Jenner curtain bangs, was behind Mitchell’s transformation, which Ricky Mota styled into a chic, wispy updo for the outing. The vibrant, reddish-brown shade is the perfect, low-maintenance hair change for fall, as demonstrated by newly-minted redheads like Zendaya and Kaia Gerber. Other stars who’ve recently gone red have opted for a more coppery finish, like Lily James, Sydney Sweeney, and Kendall Jenner. “With reds, most people look stellar with a mixture of different shades of reds – dark or light,” Denver-based hairstylist and Overtone brand ambassador Douglas Michael previously told POPSUGAR.
Though Mitchell has worn her hair in bleach-blonde, blue, and pink wigs in the past, the dyed red is quite the drastic permanent change for the actor, who’s previously only experimented with varying shades of brown. See more close-ups of her new look ahead.
