For most couples, tying the knot is the ultimate sign of commitment, but for celebrities, it’s really all down to the tattoo tribute. Just weeks after Rita Ora confirmed she married Taika Waititi last summer, the latter has gone and got a tattoo in honour of his new wife. On 8 Feb., Waititi posted a black and white video on his Instagram showcasing the letter ‘R’ in old English font sitting above his thumb and index finger on his right hand, created by Los Angeles tattoo parlour, Winterstone.
While it can be assumed the ‘R’ is a design of his new wife’s initial, Waititi actually captioned the post with “I love Rugby.” Luke Hemsworth, the brother of Chris Hemsworth who plays “Thor” in the Marvel films alongside Waititi, offered some other suggestions for the tattoo meaning, commenting, “Racketball? Rounders? Robin Hood?” Perhaps he does just really love sport, but we get the feeling this ink is specially for Ora.
While this isn’t the first tattoo Waititi has got, it does appear to be the first one dedicated to his other half. Ora is also a fan of ink, thought to have around 35 tattoos. She recently debuted a brand new side-boob tattoo for 2023, and has been stepping out in an array of sheer looks that display more of her body art, as well as cutout jeans revealing the ink on her lower hip. Perhaps it’s only a matter of time before she gets a matching ‘T’ tattoo? If so, the couple will be joining the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas, and “Love Island”‘s Tasha Ghouri and Andrew Le Page who all have adorable matching tats. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any matching Ora ink – we think it will suit her to a ‘T’. See Waititi’s new tattoo below.
