Mascara is the one makeup product I’m willing to splurge on, for a number of reasons. I’ve always dealt with mascaras smearing and smudging, and if formula bleeds onto my lids or lower lash line, even with setting powder and the works, it’s an immediate no for me. Therefore, I’m willing to spend a few extra bucks to get something that works, and I’m constantly searching for my new favorite.
That said, when I learned about Tarte’s new Tartelette XL Tubing Mascara ($27), I knew I needed to try it. This tubing mascara is based on the brand’s bestselling original mascara, but with a twist. The new formula comes in an XL version that promises to give extra lift and length to your lashes. And while I wasn’t sure what to expect with my first-ever experience using a tubing mascara, I was completely blown away after one swipe. About the Tartelette XL Tubing Mascara
- This formula is flake-free for up to 24 hours.
- It’s a tubing formula, meaning it features pigments that wrap around each lash in a tube fashion.
- To remove, all you need to do is apply warm water and watch the mascara come off in little flakes.
- This mascara is a revamp of the brand’s iconic tubing mascara, but this time, it’s an XL version with two times the tubing length.
- It’s crafted with good-for-you ingredients like shea butter, castor oil, niacinamide, biotin, and panthenol, which work together to lift, thicken, lengthen, and condition the lashes.
What I Like About the Tartelette XL Tubing Mascara
I’ve been a beauty writer for six years, and somehow, this was my first experience using a tubing mascara. I’m actually livid that I waited this long to hop on the trend. In the past, I thought of tubing mascaras as a total gimmick, but that is most certainly not the case with Tarte’s new formula.
After applying just one coat, my lashes instantly looked longer than they ever had before. I was truly blown away. Not only is the wand size petite and perfect for my needs, but I can also coat each lash from root to tip with no issues. Better yet, after wearing it all day and even going to the gym, I dealt with zero smudging or bleeding.
How to Use the Tartelette XL Tubing Mascara
Using a tubing mascara is just like any other run-of-the-mill mascara when it comes to application. To start, I used a lash curler to give my lashes a nice bend, and then I went in with the wand. I began with one coat and immediately noticed a difference in volume and length. For some extra drama, I decided to build on it with one more coat.
Removal is where things get fun with tubing mascaras. Instead of using a makeup wipe or a cleansing balm, you only need to apply warm water to your lashes. The mascara falls off in tube shapes – it’s super easy.
What to Consider Before Trying the Tartelette XL Tubing Mascara
If you, like me, are hesitant to try out a tubing mascara, let this be your sign to take the plunge. I’m truly kicking myself for waiting so long, and I don’t think I’ll ever turn back to traditional mascara. My lashes have never looked longer. Plus, the removal process is so fun. If you’re in the market for a new mascara, I can’t recommend this enough, even if you have oily lids like me.
