Taylor Swift took her fans on a ride to discover the vault songs on her forthcoming “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” album. The singer partnered with Google to create a vault animation that would pop up every time fans searched her name. When they pressed the icon, they would be given a hint, which would help them decode the puzzle and move on to the next round. One of the hints was the word “caption,” which sent fans into a frenzy as they recalled one of the most iconic periods in the Swiftie fandom.
Fans instantly thought back to when the singer cut her hair into bangs and captioned the photo: “Got a haircut,” on X, formerly known as Twitter. She also detailed the cut on Instagram at the time. “Taylor Swift got bangs cut for her Vogue magazine photoshoot and since then she NEVER let it go and made it her BRAND,” one fan page wrote as they deciphered what they thought was the clue.
The vault track titles have since been revealed and they are “Slut,” “Is It Over Now,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Say Don’t Go,” and “Suburban Legends,” with no mentions of a haircut, but search around the theory has taken the internet by storm. Perhaps there’s another piece to the puzzle. Either way, like Willow Smith’s buzzcut or Jane Birkin’s bangs, it just goes to show that a good haircut can live on forever.
