The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins star in one of the most iconic thrillers of all time as a young FBI agent and the bloodthirsty criminal who could help with her case.
Raising Cain (1992)
If you only know John Lithgow from his comedic work, take a look at the thrillers in his catalogue, starting with this 1992 psychological horror by Brian De Palma.
The Firm (1993)
This movie may stray from its source material, John Grisham’s megapopular novel, slightly, but it’s still an above-average onscreen adaptation. You’ll get to see Tom Cruise‘s patented “worried” face quite a bit.
GoldenEye (1995)
The 17th movie in the James Bond franchise (and Pierce Brosnan‘s first movie as Bond) follows the MI6 officer as he attempts to protect “GoldenEye” – a clandestine satellite weapon designed and launched by the Soviets during the Cold War – from the Janus crime syndicate. Fans had to wait six years for this one to come out after License to Kill, but it was worth the wait.
Donnie Brasco (1997)
At a certain point in his career, Al Pacino started taking on “mentor” roles. In Donnie Brasco, he’s an older mafia man whose world is infiltrated by a young, undercover FBI agent (Johnny Depp).
Anaconda (1997)
If the lure of a giant snake doesn’t make you want to hit “play,” the cast should: Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube, Danny Trejo, Eric Stoltz, and Jon Voight.
The Devil's Advocate (1997)
Al Pacino‘s at it again! Only this time he’s the actual devil and Keanu Reeves is the New York businessman unfortunately enough to get in his way.
Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
Pierce Brosnan reprised the role of Bond for the second time in the franchise’s 18th installment, Tomorrow Never Dies. This one follows agent 007 as he attempts to stop a power-hungry media mogul who hopes to provoke World War III in order to boost sales in his news division, and Brosnan totally delivers as the smoldering agent once again.
Double Jeopardy (1999)
Ashley Judd is a ’90s thriller queen, and Double Jeopardy, costarring Bruce Greenwood and Tommy Lee Jones, is one of her best.
Sleepy Hollow (1999)
Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci are paired in this spooky retelling of the classic tale.
The World Is Not Enough (1999)
Pierce Brosnan‘s third time playing Bond was in The World Is Not Enough, which is the 19th installment in the James Bond franchise. This film revolves around a scheme to increase petroleum prices by triggering a nuclear meltdown in the waters of Istanbul – and of course, it’s up to Bond to stop them (and to protect the oil heiress who is seemingly being targeted).
