About Time
As soon as Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) learns he can time travel, he uses it to win over the love of his life, Mary (Rachel McAdams). However, it takes Tim a few tries, and some major life lessons, to master his new skill.
To All the Boys I've Loved Before
Whoa, whoa, whoa. You mean you haven’t watched this a dozen times already? Netflix’s breakout rom-com about a pair of teenagers who make a fake-relationship contract, only to fall in love for real.
Sierra Burgess Is a Loser
In a story so twisty it could only take place in high school, a witty band geek winds up in a texting romance with her popular secret crush – but he thinks he’s texting the popular cheerleader. Mistaken identities and crossed wires abound until everything unravels en route to a happy ending.
The Kissing Booth
A high school girl signs up to run a kissing booth at the Winter carnival, but gets way more than she bargained for. When she falls for her best friend’s brother, a lopsided and complicated triangle emerges.
When We First Met
Wouldn’t everyone like a second chance at love? That’s exactly what the hero of this movie gets. After losing his dream girl after just one night, he gets the chance to keep travelling back in time to try to improve himself and get things right.
Naked
Starring Marlon Wayans and Regina Hall, Naked revolves around a guy who can’t seem to make it down the aisle to marry the girl of his dreams because he keeps waking up in a hotel elevator. Oh yeah, and he’s also naked. It’s basically Groundhog Day, but without clothes. We don’t get it either.
Always Be My Maybe
Childhood best friends Sasha and Marcus reconnect after more than 15 years apart. Old wounds are reopened as they clash over their differing outlooks on life, but there’s still a lot of love there.
Irreplaceable You
When a young woman, Abbie, is diagnosed with terminal cancer, she decides to make it her mission to find a new lover for her best friend since childhood and fiancé, Sam. The cast is insanely good, including the beautiful Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Michiel Huisman, but unfortunately, this one can’t seem to decide whether it’s a black comedy or a tearjerker, so it just ends up being not much of anything.
Christmas Inheritance
Ellen, a high-powered and privileged heiress, is set to inherit her father’s business. But there’s one catch: she has to deliver a Christmas card to his former partner, who has moved to the small town of Snow Falls. When she gets snowed in, she finds herself learning about what really matters.
Alex Strangelove
A teen boy thinks he’s got his love life all figured out, but that all goes out the window when he meets a handsome, intriguing stranger at a party.
Candy Jar
Buried among the higher-profile teen rom-coms is this lesser-known flick, set in a high school debate club. When a quiet, working-class girl and her polished-and-pressed rival have to work together, they realise that they might have more common ground than anyone thought.
A Christmas Prince
2017’s viral Christmas rom-com is the goofy tale of a reporter on a mission for a great story. When she goes to report on a dashing European prince about to take the throne, she winds up with a love story instead!
Ibiza: Love Drunk
Gillian Jacobs, Vanessa Bayer, and Phoebe Robinson play three best friends whose trip to Ibiza becomes a game to track down a popular DJ (played by Game of Thrones hottie Richard Madden). Sure, it may embrace every gross-out girl comedy cliché there is, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a good time (with a damn good soundtrack).
The Perfect Date
Noah Centineo further cements his status as Netflix’s rom-com king with this sweet teen comedy about a high school senior who tries to finance his college dreams by creating an app where he sells his services as a plus-one for hire.
#RealityHigh
While definitely created by adults who have never once used social media themselves, this millennial flick revolves around a nerdy high school girl named Dani who catches the eye of the hottest guy in school – as well as in competition with the school’s Instagram-obsessed mean girl. While totally predictable, Nesta Cooper (who plays Dani) is too charming not to love, and Kate Walsh is fabulous as Dani’s hopelessly romantic boss.
The Holiday Calendar
It wouldn’t be Christmastime without a hint of magic in rom-coms! In this one, a photographer inherits an Advent calendar that does more than countdown to Christmas: it seems to be able to predict her future, including an unexpected romance.
Happy Anniversary
While we love our light and breezy romantic comedies, Happy Anniversary is a refreshing look at what happens after the meet-cute. Sam and Molly, like many who find themselves in long-term relationships, struggle to accept the idea that love isn’t just grand, romantic gestures and passion – it’s hard work, tears, and struggle, but still a lot of laughs. Also, Ben Schwartz and Noël Wells – who you may better known as Jean-Ralphio on Parks and Recreation and Rachel on Master of None – are actually perfect together.
The Princess Switch
It’s a double dose of Vanessa Hudgens in this “princess and the pauper” Christmas comedy. A duchess and a baker switch places for the holidays, discovering what’s really important to them and both falling in love unexpectedly along the way.
The Incredible Jessica James
Formerly a correspondent on The Daily Show, Jessica Williams stars as a struggling playwright who reels over a bad breakup while falling for a charming divorced app developer. We’re all for female leads who know just how awesome they are, and so as soon as Jessica says, “I’m tall, I’m pretty, I’m smart, I’m a cocoa queen,” we knew she had us.
Our Souls at Night
Believe it or not, rom-com protagonists don’t have to be under the age of 30 to matter. Robert Redford and Jane Fonda star in this one as a widow and widower who have lived next door to each other for years, but who one day decide to alleviate their shared loneliness by sleeping together – and by “sleeping together,” we mean just that: sharing a bed. Needless to say, the platonic element of their relationship doesn’t last long.
Set It Up
In a nod to classic romantic comedies, this Netflix original is about two demanding workaholics (played by Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs) who unwittingly bring together their overworked assistants (Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell) as they attempt to play matchmaker with their bosses. Deutch’s and Powell’s performances are so fun and flirty that they have even been compared to that of rom-com legends Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks
Someone Great
When a music journalist gets her dream job in San Francisco, her longtime boyfriend breaks up with her. To heal her broken heart, she and her two best friends hit the town in New York City for one last girls’ night out.
Tall Girl
You may not know the name Ava Michelle, but the vertically gifted dancer is taking on the title role in Tall Girl. The comedy centres on the tallest girl in high school who finds her match with a Swedish exchange student (Luke Eisner). Steve Zahn, Angela Kinsey, and Sabrina Carpenter are all costarring.
Dumplin'
Based on the bestselling book by Julie Murphy, this flick follows an outspoken, curvy, Dolly Parton-obsessed teenager named Willowdean (played by Danielle Macdonald) as she navigates life under the rule of her overbearing pageant-queen mother (played by Jennifer Aniston) in a small town Texas. Willowdean decides to regain her confidence by entering the beauty pageant run by her mother, and though her insanely sweet romance with private school student Bo is secondary to the plot, it’s still adorable enough to garner Dumplin’ a place on this list.
To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You
In To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before‘s sequel, Lara Jean finds herself in a love triangle between John Ambrose, her old Model UN crush whom she’s recently reconnected with, and Peter Kavinsky, whom she’s definitely falling for.
Ali's Wedding
If you haven’t watched this underrated Muslim rom-com yet, then do yourself a favour and watch it this weekend. Ali’s Wedding tells the story of the titular Ali, a charismatic and musically-talented son of a cleric who is forced to choose between the woman he loves and the woman he’s already been promised to at his father’s mosque – while also trying to convince his dad that he’s doing well enough in school to become a doctor (spoiler: he’s not). You’d never think watching someone’s life spiral out of control could be so fun.
The Knight Before Christmas
A medieval knight is sent forward in time by a sorceress, but ends up crossing paths with Brooke, a clever, kind science teacher in The Knight Before Christmas.
Let It Snow

Two young strangers, Ellie (Grace Van Patten) and Danny (Callum Turner), are pulled into two different shady deals in which they’re supposed to swap briefcases with someone. However, a case of mistaken identity sets the two on the same track, and they must deal with the consequences of their inability to complete their jobs all while a romance develops.
To All the Boys: Always and Forever
In the third instalment of the beloved To All the Boys franchise, Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter (Noah Centineo) celebrate a lot of big milestones as they finish off their senior year of high school, but it’s not without a few bumps in the road. While they plan on attending Stanford University together, things take a dramatic turn when Lara Jean finds out she wasn’t accepted.

It’s Christmastime in Aldovia, and a royal baby is on the way! But when the priceless treaty goes missing, peace is jeopardised and an ancient curse erupts. Uh-oh!
Murder Mystery
Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler team up to play a bored husband and wife who go on a long-awaited trip to Europe, only to have a chance meeting with a handsome stranger on the plane (Luke Evans) that leads the pair to an intimate family gathering on the yacht of aging billionaire Malcolm Quince (Terence Stamp). Though their surroundings are lavish, things soon take a turn when Quince turns up dead and everyone aboard the boat becomes a suspect in his murder.

Falling Inn Love
Netflix’s feel-good romance Falling Inn Love has everything you need in a cheesy rom-com: a punny title, a gorgeous setting, and a scenario built to make its leads fall in (sorry, inn) love against all odds. Singer and actress Christina Milian stars as Gabriela, a city girl who spontaneously enters a contest to “win an inn” – aka renovating the dilapidated Bellbird Valley Farm – after a breakup. Lo and behold, she’s chosen! Which means she has to travel from her home in San Francisco to New Zealand, where the Bellbird is located. Luckily, with the help of a handsome contractor (Adam Demos), Gabriela fixes up not only the building but also her heart.

When best friends Naomi (Victoria Justice) and Ely (Pierson Fode) both fall in love with the same guy, they find themselves wondering if their bond is strong enough to withstand the rift, and what matters more in life: friendship or romance?
Love, Guaranteed
This Netflix rom-com stars ’90s-movie royalty Rachael Leigh Cook and comedic genius Damon Wayans Jr. Their flick Love, Guaranteed follows Nick as he hires lawyer Susan to sue a dating site due to a lack of matches. Though Nick is attractive and charming – in a snarky self-assured kind of way – he’s made it through 986 dates without finding love, which the dating app guarantees. Susan, who has been working cases pro bono and sorely needs the cash, takes on the case, even though she thinks Nick is an opportunist who’s using a loophole to scam lifestyle guru Tamara Taylor for money.
