Five years ago, we first met Abbie Chatfield on our television screens. She endured a heart-wrenching public breakup on The Bachelor, but now she’s using that “most painful” and humiliating experience to show how everything truly happens for a reason.
In a recent TikTok, Abbie gave us a peek into just how far she’s come. Her current boyfriend, Adam Hyde, recently posed for a photo with none other than her ex, Matt Agnew. Yep, the same Matt who sent her packing in 2019.
“I’m here to remind you that every single breakup is just leading you one step closer to the love of your life,” she begins the video with.
“…Here we are 5 years later… Matt and I are friends now, and Adam ran into him at a pub.”
@abbiechatfield ARIANA WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE???? @Matt Agnew is essnetially the reason i have @keli holiday in my life so thank u for reminding me by running into each other in a pub 😭 #thebachelor #thebachelorau ♬ original sound – Abbie Chatfield
Abbie went on to thank Matt for breaking up with her, admitting, “You breaking up with me led me to Adam.”
Despite the harsh edit she received on The Bachelor, and the relentless slut-shaming that followed, Abbie turned her pain into a powerful career move.
“After my time on The Bachelor, I got slut-shamed really badly… I then started writing articles about feminism, then a podcast about my opinions on things,” she continued.
“Then I got a radio show from that podcast being so successful and then I met Adam interviewing him on my radio show. I would never have even been in this man’s [Adam] orbit if it wasn’t for Matt ending it with me on national TV and it being one of the most humiliating, painful experiences I’ve been through in my career.
“Everything happens for a reason; it’s the butterfly effect of this. Adam is my soulmate, the love of my life. We really are meant for each other.”
Abbie Chatfield and Adam Hyde’s Relationship
In June 2024, Abbie Chatfield and Adam Hyde made their relationship official on Abbie’s It’s a Lot podcast. Abbie couldn’t contain her excitement, gushing, “We’re so in love and we love talking about it.” Reflecting on their first meeting, she revealed that their paths initially crossed in 2022 when she interviewed Adam on her radio show.
Adam described their early interactions as “like something out of a fairytale” and committed fully to the relationship, stating, “I’m so in love with you. As far as this relationship goes, I’m willing to go all the way. I don’t have any reservations.”
The couple’s romance had been hinted at earlier in the year. Abbie first mentioned her “new crush” on a March 2024 episode of It’s a Lot, describing the relationship as “actually the most important thing that’s happened to me, dating-wise.” Though she didn’t name Adam until June, fans had already connected the dots after seeing them together at the Australian Grand Prix.
Adam Hyde, known for his work with Peking Duk and hits like “High” and “Take Me Over,” has clearly found his match in Abbie.
