Go for Gold: Jana Pittman and Her Son, Cornelis Are Taking on “The Amazing Race”
She’s represented Australia and conquered the Olympics, but now Jana Pittman is taking on a new challenge — “The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition”. And guess what? Her son, Cornelis Rawlinson, is coming along for the ride.
The mother and son pair will race against 10 other celebrities and their loved ones through the bustling streets of Borneo, India, Malaysia and Cambodia. If they take out the win, Jana and Cornelis will be donating $100,000 to the Royal Hospital for Women to help upgrade equipment and research.
Will “The Amazing Race” 2023 be the beautiful mother-son bonding moment that Jana is hoping for? Here’s everything you need to know about this wholesome pair.
The Amazing Race 2023: Jana Pittman Teams Up With Her Son Cornelis
From being the first Aussie woman to compete at a summer and winter Olympics to raising six children, Jana Pittman has lived a very full life. The now-retired athlete turned doctor also knows her way around tough reality TV shows — her determination and vulnerability on the 2021 season of “SAS Australia” is still highly commended to this day. However, with her son joining her this time around, can Jana find the balance between mum and teammate?
Cornelis Rawlinson, 16, is the eldest of Jana’s six children, and according to Fandom, he’s the youngest to compete in a standard format of “The Amazing Race”. Just like his courageous mother, the teenager also has an affinity for sport and the great outdoors and regularly posts his adventures on Instagram.
When asked by Network 10 what he’s most about excited about for his upcoming “Amazing Race” travels, Cornelis had a plain and simple answer, “The food!”.
And honestly, if we were venturing through the culinary hubs of Borneo, India, Malaysia and Cambodia, we’d be saying the exact same thing.
Will a mother and son’s bond overcome the challenges of “The Amazing Race” 2023? Jana and Cornelis might just lead by example.
Tune into “The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition” to see where they end up — premiering on Wednesday, 4 October at 7:30pm only on 10 and 10 Play. Miss an episode? Catch up on 10 Play.
