Destiny’s Child fans, I don’t think you can handle this! The former girl group just delivered a dose of pure nostalgia at Beyoncé‘s “Renaissance” concert film premiere over the weekend. Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams — our forever trio — lit up the chrome carpet, and to everyone’s surprise, LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett joined the party. Fans were especially surprised to see the duo, who both left the group in 2000.
The Grammy Award-winning group, originally known as Girl’s Tyme, was a six-member powerhouse initially, featuring Beyoncé, Kelly, Michelle, LaTavia, LeToya, and Farrah Franklin. But it was the trio of Beyoncé, Kelly, and Michelle that etched their names in the group’s success story.
The four of them did appear in the second trailer for the movie, so there was some expectation they might be invited, but it was not guaranteed. Former member Farrah Franklin was nowhere to be seen.
Michelle, LaTavia, and LeToya donned elegant black dresses, perfectly in tune with the event’s theme of “cosy opulence”. Kelly, on the other hand, added a touch of shimmer to the chrome carpet with a silver metallic gown.
True to her enigmatic nature, Beyoncé arrived fashionably late, bypassing the red carpet. Rumour has it she entered just as the lights dimmed in the cinema, setting the stage for the film without stealing the spotlight.
The premiere was a star-studded affair, with the likes of Tina Knowles, Tyler Perry, Lupita Nyong’o, Lizzo, Chloe and Halle Bailey, Kris Jenner, Laverne Cox, Jeremy Pope, and Issa Rae gracing the event.
