After a record-breaking first season, the second season of Bridgerton is set to arrive on Netflix on March 25 and the streaming service has given a first look into what fans can expect.
The first season of the hit show, based on author Julia Quinn’s book series of the same name, focused on the story of Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and the Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page). But now, for the second season, it’s Daphne’s brother Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) time to shine as he embarks on his own journey to find love. His love interest Kate Sharma will be played by Simone Ashley, and is described as a “smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools — Anthony Bridgerton very much included,” per a previous press release from Netflix.
Also starring in the upcoming instalment are Charithra Chandran, who will play Kate’s younger sister Edwina, and Shelley Conn, playing their mother Lady Mary Sharma.
Similar to Daphne and Simon, Anthony and Kate’s relationship doesn’t exactly start off blissfully. According to a Netflix press release, he knows he must find a suitable wife, but love isn’t high on his list of priorities.
Once Kate discovers this, she tries everything in her power to stop the union, but her attempts just draw them closer together.
Bridgerton was renewed for season two in January last year, and then shortly after, Netflix gave the show an early order for seasons three and four in April.
