Fans of Britney Spears have been in a flurry of excitement after rumours were published that the pop icon was set to visit Australia this week. This was all thanks to a now-deleted report on entertainment news site, Concrete Playground, which claimed she’d be cruising around Sydney on a bus, handing out copies of her new memoir, “The Woman in Me”. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well unfortunately, it is.
According to a now-amended Concrete Playground article, a “Britney bus” was set to tour Sydney, stopping at the Sydney Opera House, where Britney herself would be handing out books. But here’s where things get clarified.
An official press release confirms that yes indeed, a “Britney bus” making its way around Sydney with copies of the book on its publication day. However, the person on the bus won’t be Britney Spears.

“Scheduled to stop near the iconic Sydney Opera House around lunchtime on launch day, the first 50 fans to find and arrive at the bus will be personally handed a copy of the memoir, with a ‘Britney’ on hand to celebrate the launch of one of this year’s most anticipated book releases,” it reads.
In short: it’s a Britney, but not THE Britney.
As for Britney’s history in Australia, her last visit was during her 2009 Circus tour. Since the end of her controversial conservatorship in November 2021, she’s released a couple of singles but has stated that she currently has no plans to perform again.
Simon and Schuster will release “The Woman in Me” locally this Wednesday. An audiobook version, narrated by Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams, will also be available.
What Is “The Woman in Me” About?
“‘The Woman in Me’ is a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope. In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice — her truth — was undeniable and changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others,” Simon & Schuster said in a press release.
“‘The Woman in Me’ reveals for the first time her incredible journey — and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. With remarkable candour and humour, Spears’s groundbreaking memoir illuminates the enduring power of music and love — and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms.”
The book has garnered attention for its explosive excerpts, including candid details about her past relationship with Justin Timberlake.
