He’s Won Gold 5 Times, But Will Ian Thorpe Take Home the Title of Celebrity MasterChef?

We first came to know him in the year 2000, when Sydney was hosting the Olympics. He was just 17-years-old, but despite his tender age, Ian Thorpe won gold after breaking his own world record.

That was the first of five gold medals, three silver and one bronze.

Now 38, Ian Thorpe is one of the most decorated Australian swimmers in history.

But while he’s already dominated the sporting world, the Olympian is ready to tackle the kitchen — more specifically, the MasterChef kitchen.

He’s known for his agility, and while speed is definitely helpful when competing on the cooking show, what will ultimately help him take home the title is the taste of his food.

The latest preview shows Thorpey sweating it up while racing against the clock, but will he break any records?

Sharing a snippet on his Instagram, Ian said: “Great time, great crew and fabulous competitors. I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time. I hope you all enjoy @masterchefau as much as I enjoyed being involved.”

Celebrity MasterChef features a number of stars coming together to compete on the hit show, including Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Tilly, Rebecca Gibney and Dami Im to name a few.

The celebs, who are all veterans in their fields, are gearing up to take part in Mystery Box challenges and Pressure Tests, as they battle it out to be named Australia’s next MasterChef.
