Disney+'s The Book of Boba Fett Is Premiering Soon, So Here's What to Know

Boba Fett is one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe. The legendary bounty hunter has appeared in countless films and television series throughout the franchise, like The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Mandalorian, and more. While the character has been around for over 40 years, he’s never had a stand-alone project until now.

On Dec. 29, fans can catch Temuera Morrison as Boba in the upcoming Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett, which will also star Ming-Na Wen as the assassin and elite mercenary Fennec Shand. If you’re planning to watch, here’s everything you need to know about the show before it premieres this holiday season.

What Is Disney+'s The Book of Boba Fett About?

According to the show’s official synopsis, The Book of Boba Fett will follow Boba and Fennec as they navigate the galaxy’s underworld after they return to the desert planet of Tatooine and take over the throne once ruled by Jabba the Hutt.

In a June 10 interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Morrison teased the show will answer questions about Boba’s past. “Well, we can’t say too much, but we’re going to see his past and where he’s been since The Empire Strikes Back,” he said. “Somebody pointed out he’s been kind of stuck in this one place, and now’s the time to actually go back in time and check out his journey and find out more about him.”

This means fans might finally find out how Boba survived being swallowed by Jabba’s Sarlacc creature in Return of the Jedi and how he came to lose his armour.

Who Is the Villain of Disney+'s The Book of Boba Fett?

The main villain of The Book of Boba Fett hasn’t been revealed yet, but fans theorise we could see the return of Qi’ra (played by Game of Thrones‘s Emilia Clarke). In Solo: A Star Wars Story, she’s a high-ranking operative in the criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn, which is led by Darth Maul. Qi’ra becomes Maul’s second-in-command after she kills the public face of the syndicate, Dryden Vos. Star Wars comic War of the Bounty Hunters, set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, reveals Qi’ra rose to the top of Crimson Dawn after Maul’s death.

Fans think Qi’ra will return because they caught a glimpse of Crimson Dawn in the trailer for The Book of Boba Fett.
