Unfortunately, there are a fair few of us in Australia who are in lockdown right now and therefore scrambling to find new ways to stay entertained and upbeat.
While TV shows and movies are always comforting and reliable options, sometimes you just want to let loose, dance around the living room in your PJ’s and dream of a time when you can hug your loved ones again. Heck, even if you are one of the lucky people who are NOT in lockdown, the aforementioned activity is a world of fun and we highly recommend it.
Another fun lockdown activity, of course, is attempting one of the many TikTok challenges that exist on the platform—especially the dance routines. Not only is participating in such fun great exercise, but it’s also a fab way to familiarise yourself with some of the hottest music out there. Think about it, The Weeknd had the most streams of 2020 with Blinding Lights and it was partly thanks to TikTok.
Another artist who has seen huge success on the social media platform? Doja Cat—the Grammy-nominated 25-year-old rapper we just can’t get enough of!
Her style of music may be quirky and hard to define, but that has not stopped this viral powerhouse from becoming the 11th most streamed artist in the world on Spotify.
If you haven’t yet listened to her 2019 album Hot Pink or her 2021 record Planet Her, then we suggest you jump right on that for the ultimate mood lifter no matter where you are.
In honour of this indefatigable firecracker and her cache of catchy hits, we decided to round up the best Doja Cat songs that have gone viral on TikTok, for your listening and dancing pleasure.
Say So
With a dance created by TikToker Hayley Sharpe (who makes an appearance in the official music video!) Say So will have you air punching and body rolling in no time, just like the staggering 14 million users before you.
Streets
We have TikTok user @yoelise to thank for kicking off the Silhouette challenge, using Doja Cat’s November 2019 hit Streets. The challenge has since been replicated thousands of times, but Doja Cat loved the original concept so much she used it in her official music video.
Freak
The sweet sounds of this 2018 self-released track inspired Charli D’Amelio to post a short dance routine and well, over 600,000 people followed suit!
Kiss Me More (feat. SZA)
There are currently 2.8 million videos on TikTok that utilise this song. Even if you’re not up for a dance challenge on the platform, this one is still always perfect to lift your mood and get a smile on your face.
Boss Bitch
This one doesn’t even require dancing! Simply think of a situation in which everyone else looks like they are walking the red carpet and you look like you’ve been in lockdown for three months (too soon?) and have fun with the comedy! Here are some of our faves.
Happy dancing!
