We are all about the future at the moment. With the end of lockdown finally in sight, we’re all starting to reminisce about the things we used to love doing the most and dreaming about what it will be like to be able to do them again. In other words, we’ve got a pretty hefty sense of future nostalgia going on right now.
So, the news that Grammy Award-winning artist Dua Lipa is going to be hitting our shores in 2022 is, quite literally, music to our ears.
The artist’s second studio album Future Nostalgia (2020) has dominated the airwaves and delivered six hit singles in Australia: ‘Don’t Start Now’, ‘Levitating’, ‘Break My Heart’, ‘Physical’, ‘We’re Good’, and ‘Hallucinate’.The #1 album is platinum and after becoming the third highest-selling album released in 2020, is still top 10 after 74 weeks in the ARIA chart, returning to the top spot earlier this year, following the release of ‘The Moonlight Edition’. In addition, Dua Lipa’s collaboration with Sir Elton John, ‘Cold Heart’ is currently #4 on the ARIA Singles Chart as new single ‘Love Again’ rules the radio.
Dua Lipa’s rise to success has been meteoric, to say the least. In 2018, she made BRIT Award history as the first female artist to pick up five nominations, with two wins for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist.
Then it was onto the Grammys where she picked up two awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for ‘Electricity,’ her collaboration with Silk City the following year.
Meanwhile, Future Nostalgia was released in March 2020 and surpassed 294 million streams in its first week and has now exceeded 6 billion streams across all of its tracks and also won Best Pop Vocal Album at the 63rd Grammy Awards in March 2021. It was nominated for a further five Grammy Awards including Album of the Year.
Needless to say, this tour is one not to be missed so mark your diaries and start looking forward to hitting the dance floor with a bunch of sweaty strangers once more.
