Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) isn’t leaving Rome anytime soon. Emily in Paris has officially been renewed for a fifth season.

As we dove into Season 4 of Emily in Paris, we were all wondering if this was going to be the final chapter for Emily Cooper. If you’re anything like us, you binge-watched Part 2 over the weekend and were stressing about the thought of no follow-up season after that cliffhanger. But we finally have the confirmation we’ve been waiting for.

“We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!” creator Darren Star told Tudum.

Emily in Paris Season 5: What We Know

If you’ve been keeping up with the series, you know it has a knack for messy love triangles, stunning fashion, and endless French escapades. Just when it seemed like Emily’s romantic life might finally settle down, enter Marcello Muratori, played by Italian actor Eugenio Franceschini. His character makes a dramatic entrance in Season 4 —on top of a snow-capped mountain, no less — and quickly stirs up more drama.

Emily’s romance with an Italian fashion heir lead her to Rome, where she opened a new office for Agence Grateau. Despite this new chapter, the show’s title will stay the same. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” says Star. “It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.”

Star’s decision to expand the series to Rome was intended to “stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,” demonstrating that the show’s storylines can continue to evolve.

Season 4 premiered in August and quickly climbed to the top of the Netflix Global Top 10, with 19.9 million views in its first four days. It reached the Top 10 in 93 countries and remained on the list for four consecutive weeks.

Lily Collins on Emily in Paris Season 5

Lily Collins announced the renewal for Season 5 on Good Morning America and is excited to delve into Emily’s evolving relationship with Marcello. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she said. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Star confirmed that Emily’s connection with Marcello will be a central storyline in the next season, emphasising their “real spark and real romantic connection.”

Meanwhile, Emily’s neighbour and on-again, off-again boyfriend Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) had a realisation at the end of Season 4 that he wants to be with Emily. Despite past issues, he’s determined to make their relationship work. “Unfortunately,” Collins said, “Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice” to end things with her.

Will Emily move on or return to Paris? Stay tuned for more updates as Season 5 unfolds.
