On this season of “Euphoria,” Cassie and Lexi’s mom, Suze, played by Alanna Ubach, has been a standout character. Not only has she been calmly calling out Cassie for her messy behavior, but she’s also dropped some nuggets of wisdom for her kids.
If you’re a millennial (or just a movie fan), you might feel like Ubach looks familiar, and it’s for good reason. The actress has a huge resume of credits across television, film, and theater – most notably some fan favourites from the late 1990s and early 2000s. For those of us who are ’80s and early-’90s babies, we remember Ubach fondly from some of her work from decades ago. Now, it’s time to relive some of our fave roles!

Maria in "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit"
Alanna Ubach plays Maria, one of the students taken under the wing of Sister Mary Clarence (Whoopi Goldberg) in the 1993 film “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.” She first shows off her singing chops by belting out the theme song to “Love Boat” (because she didn’t know “Mary Had a Little Lamb”). Along with her classmates, she settles into her role in the choir that’s one of the most memorable we’ve ever seen.

Naomi in "Waiting . . ."
In this 2005 comedy film about the food industry, Alanna Ubach plays Naomi, a hard-nosed waitress who is absolutely fed up with people and her job. She’s over-the-top prickly with her co-workers and the restaurant’s customers and is probably not someone you’d want as your own waitress on your next restaurant outing. She’s part of a cast of restaurant employees who are just trying to get by, but mostly hate their jobs.

Serena in "Legally Blonde"
Alanna Ubach plays Serena in 2001’s Reese Witherspoon-led film “Legally Blonde.” As one of Elle Woods’s (Witherspoon) sorority sisters, Serena always has her friend’s back. She not only cheers Elle on as she tries to get into law school, but also shows up for her big trial at the end of the movie.

Serena in "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde"
Alanna Ubach reprised her role of Serena in the “Legally Blonde” sequel in 2003. In this film, which centres on Elle Woods’s (Reese Witherspoon) dog, Bruiser, Serena is still very present as Elle’s close friend. Though she can’t always be with Elle for support, she cheers her on from afar as she prepares for her wedding and tries to reunite Bruiser with his mom.

Jane in "Clockwatchers"
In “Clockwatchers” (1997), Alanna Ubach plays Jane, one of four temps in an office. One of the temps is accused of stealing from her co-workers and the other three have to decide if they’re going to stick by her or if they should be suspicious of her as well.

Isabel in "Meet the Fockers"
Alanna Ubach plays Isabel in 2004’s “Meet the Fockers,” aka the family’s former housekeeper who Greg (Ben Stiller) lost his virginity to when he was 15. She also shows off her 15-year-old son Jorge who has never met his dad and looks suspiciously like Greg, but that is neither here nor there. Her part in “Meet the Fockers” is quick but very, very memorable.
