It’s that time of year again, where we trek out to regional Australia (from the comfort of our own homes, of course) as we tune in for Farmer Wants a Wife. It’s a show that’s produced nine marriages, one long-term relationship and 20(!) children thus far, and this year, Farmer Ben is hoping for a happily ever after for himself.
Farmer Ben is an upfront kind of guy, who values “honesty, commitment and trust” highly.
Unlike guys who’ll leave you on read for days while he plays it cool, Ben’s all about wearing his heart on his sleeve, and says he brings “honesty, sincerity and lots of laughter” to his relationships. He’s a big fan of old-fashioned romance, and by joining Farmer Wants a Wife, he’s hoping to find long-lasting love, like his parents and grandparents did.
“I have a big heart and give my absolute all,” he said in a press statement. “I’m not perfect but I’m always respectful, loving and affectionate.”
The only one of our farmers this year who has a child, Ben has a three-year-old daughter, who he shares custody of with his ex-partner.
“She is my world and I strive every day to be the best father I possibly can be for her,” he said.
As for having more kids in the future? He “definitely” wants more children.
“I’d love my daughter to have a brother or a sister one day,” Ben said, although he doesn’t have a specific timeframe for when in mind.
“I can’t put a measure on it but would want to be confident in our personal relationship before becoming a family,” he explained.

When Farmer Ben’s not busy on the farm, he enjoys “outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, bike riding, hiking”, pretty much anything that’s out in the open.
“I love to take my daughter for dolphin watching on my jet ski,” he added. “I grew up playing cricket and AFL, so [I also] love to watch a game on TV or go to a live match.”
When it comes to his ideal partner, Farmer Ben is looking for “a life-long best mate and lover, who is resilient to go through the highs and lows of life together and find the positives out of every situation”.
He continued: “Someone prepared to give and take, and to squeeze the best out of the life we build together. Someone who doesn’t mind getting dirty but still enjoys frocking up and showing off the beautiful woman that they are.”
She’d also be “caring, loving, honest, sincere and selfless”.
“I’m looking for a person who is supportive and kind, not afraid to take charge and speak up, but still have a listening ear and a compassionate shoulder,” he added.
Essentially, Farmer Ben is hoping to find someone he connects with on a level that allows him to have the enduring kind of love that his parents have had.
“[My parents have] been married for 30 years, endured many hurdles and tragedies in life, but are still so in love, still hold hands and cuddle on the couch,” he said. “It’s their relationship that I most admire and wish to replicate.”
As for where he sees himself five years from now?
“Happily married to the love of my life,” he said. “Making the most of the life’s journey together as a family.”
Of course, Farmer Ben’s not the only farmer on the look out for love this season.
The other farmers include Farmer Harry, 24, from Kyabram, VIC, Farmer Will, 26, from Berriwillock, VIC, Farmer Benjamin, 33, from Guyra, NSW, , and Farmer Paige — the show’s first female farmer — who’s 28 and from Cassilis, NSW.
Farmer Wants a Wife kicks off at 7pm on Sunday, September 4, only on 7 and 7 Plus.
