What We Know About Florence Pugh’s Love Life, From Zach Braff to Charlie Gooch

Florence Pugh’s relationship status remains a bit of an enigma. The 27-year-old actor was linked to photographer Charlie Pooch after the two were spotted together in February, as seen in photos obtained by Harper’s Bazaar. However, Pugh hasn’t been seen with Pooch since March, meaning that the “Oppenheimer” star’s relationship status isn’t entirely clear.

Back in 2019, Pugh made headlines for her relationship with Zach Braff – who is 21 years older than her. Despite their age difference and the backlash they received for it, the former couple dated for three years, ultimately breaking things off in 2022. Even after ending things, though, they’ve appeared to remain on good terms.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in August 2022, Pugh opened up about how dating Braff in the public eye affected her. “Whenever I feel like that line has been crossed in my life, whether it’s paparazzi taking private moments, or moments that aren’t even real, or gossip channels that encourage members of the public to share private moments of famous people walking down the street, I think it’s incredibly wrong,” she shared. “I don’t think that people, just because they have this job, that every aspect of their life should be watched and written about. We haven’t signed up for a reality TV show.”

Pugh and Braff kept things pretty low-key during their time together, but after their split, the actor also got real about how people were quick to judge their relationship because of their two-decade age difference. “We weren’t in anyone’s faces. It was just that people didn’t like it,” she told Vogue in January 2023. “They imagined me with someone younger and someone in blockbusters. I think young relationships in Hollywood are so easily twisted because they add to the gossip sites. It’s exciting to watch. And I think I was in a relationship that didn’t do any of that.”

Zach Braff

Pugh and Braff dated for three years before calling it quits on their relationship in 2022. The “Don’t Worry Darling” actor confirmed their split to Harper’s Bazaar in August of that year. “We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing because it’s been a relationship that everybody has an opinion on,” Pugh explained. “We just felt something like this would really do us the benefit of not having millions of people telling us how happy they are that we’re not together. So we’ve done that. I automatically get a lumpy throat when I talk about it.”

The pair – who were first linked in April 2019 after working together on Braff’s short film “In the Time It Takes to Get There” – have remained on good terms, even raving about each other while doing press for their 2023 film “A Good Person.”

When POPSUGAR asked Braff if he could name a woman in the industry that has inspired him or impacted his life, he replied, “Florence Pugh,” he gushed. “One of the most incredible actors in the world.”

Pugh, meanwhile, told USA Today that making the film was a “truly unique and really special experience.” “It was a very natural process,” she said of working with Braff. “It seemed fitting to be part of the conversations and discussing it with him and throwing ideas around. We were very good at collaborating together.”

Braff also opened up to USA Today about how he had written the film while in lockdown with Pugh. “We were dating at the time and did lockdown together, so there was a lot of conversation about it,” he shared. “I would come up from a day’s worth of writing and say, ‘Hey, I’m thinking this is going to happen’ or ‘I discovered this idea,’ and she would weigh in. She became a really great sounding board.”

Charlie Gooch

In February 2023, Pugh was spotted holding hands with Gooch while out in London on Valentine’s Day, sparking speculation they were dating. The following month, they were once again seen spending time together, this time in Italy. In one photo from their outing, Gooch can be seen looking adoringly at Pugh, while she holds a glass of wine and appears to be talking to another person. The pair haven’t been spotted together since, though, and neither has commented on their relationship.
