“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” was one of the most popular sitcoms of the 1990s and arguably influenced several sitcoms throughout the decade, including “Martin” and “The Jamie Foxx Show.” The show centred around Will (played by Will Smith), a teenager living in West Philadelphia who is forced by his mother to move and live with his rich aunt and uncle in their Bel-Air home after he gets into a fight with some local trouble makers. “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” lasted a total of six seasons (and its theme song by Smith went down in history as one of the best), so it’s no surprise that – amid the reboot surge of the 2020s – the classic is getting the reboot treatment with “Bel-Air.”
“Bel-Air” is a spinoff from the popular sitcom with less comedic punches and more depth and drama. The series still features the same characters from the original series, but it revitalises them and adds a modern context to their stories. With a new cast, including Jabari Banks as Will, and a great soundtrack, the new series is already pulling in both new and old audiences.
“Bel-Air” premiered on Feb. 13, so there’s no better time than now to take a look back at the original cast of the show and where they are today.

In a conversation with Smith during the reunion, she opened up about her experience, saying, “Words can kill. I lost everything. Reputation. Everything. And I understand you were able to move forward, but you know those words, calling a Black woman difficult in Hollywood, is the kiss of death.” The two have since reconciled and remain friends to this day, with the actress telling People that they regularly text. “As a matter of fact, we have a very good relationship.
