“Gladiators”: A series guaranteed to be a hurricane of drama. In the Arena, each contestant will whirl and clash, creating battles and debris. The tumultuous nature of “Gladiators” is reflected even in the name of one of its participants, Cyclone.
If you’re unaware, “Gladiators” isn’t for the faint of heart. In this series, permanent competitors, called Gladiators, face off against a gauntlet of one-time contestants known as Challengers. These battles consist of wrestling matches, obstacle course races, and aerial-based fights.
For all the combatants, their very reputations are on the line. Losing is never an option.
What’s more, “Gladiators” is a reboot of a series from the nineties. In the original series, each contestant had names like Glacier, Vulcan, and Fury. However, this version didn’t include a Gladiator named Cyclone.
So, who is this mysterious Cyclone, and what’s his deal in the ring? Here’s everything that we know about this dangerous force of nature.
Who Is the Gladiator Cyclone?
In “Gladiators”, Cyclone is performed by Blessings Chilufya, a 22-year-old man from Zambia. Blessings is best known for being a former basketball player and professional runner. He is currently a coach at F45 Training Coomera Pimpama.
Additionally, “Gladiators” isn’t Blessings’ first venture on screen; he has also appeared in Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis,
plus “Young Rock”, the series about Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s childhood.
As Cyclone, Blessings aims to be swift and agile, much like a real cyclone. He strives to be unpredictable, surprising, and to keep his opponents guessing.
According to Blessings, he is excited to be part of the next season of “Gladiators”, expressing his enthusiasm on his Instagram.
“Gladiators” is set to premiere at 7.30pm on Monday, January 15, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. Miss its premiere? Catch up on 10 Play.
