Glen Powell knows there’s plenty of power in both “Glenergy” and “Kenergy”.

The Twisters star jumped into a conversation that had the internet buzzing — a comparison between his rising star and Ryan Gosling’s well-established fame. And in true Powell fashion, he responded with a touch of humility and humour, nodding to Gosling’s iconic Barbie moment, “I’m Just Ken”.

“Gosling is a legend,” Powell wrote, sharing the article that featured the producer’s comments. “I’m just Glen.”

This all started when a producer, in a career analysis piece published by The Wrap, weighed in on Powell’s growing influence in Hollywood.

“Glen Powell is unquestionably an emerging movie star, with audiences now flocking to see him,” the source remarked. “Unlike Ryan Gosling, whose fanbase is predominantly female, Glen has a broad appeal that resonates with both men and women.”

And let’s be real — Powell’s star has been on a serious ascent ever since he stole scenes in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick. He’s not just resting on his laurels, either. In the past two years, he’s co-written and starred in Richard Linklater’s action-comedy Hit Man, revived the rom-com with Sydney Sweeney in Anyone But You, and smashed box office expectations with Twisters’ $80.5 million opening weekend.

But hey, Gosling isn’t exactly taking a back seat. He’s still crushing it, starring alongside Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy and earning an Oscar nod for his pitch-perfect portrayal of Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. Plus, he led a full-blown sing-along at the Oscars with fellow Kens — Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Scott Evans, and Kingsley Ben-Adir. That’s peak Gosling.

Naturally, fans had a field day with the Powell vs. Gosling comparison. “Hey, you’re Glenough!” one person quipped. Another chimed in with, “Your job is tornado.” Even Simu Liu jumped in to back up Powell with a simple, “Niccccccce.”

It’s clear Powell is embracing his moment, and honestly, why shouldn’t he? With upcoming projects like Edgar Wright’s The Running Man and the Hulu comedy series Chad Powers, he’s got plenty more Glenergy to unleash. And we’re here for every minute of it.
