Father and son pair Kurt and Wyatt Russell are reuniting on screen in a new Apple TV+ series all about Godzilla. It’s the first time the pair have worked on the same project since Wyatt appeared as a younger version of his dad in the 1998 movie “Soldier.”
Not much is known about the new series, and Wyatt and Kurt’s roles are being kept under wraps. It’s possible they’re playing family members, but it’s also possible that Wyatt, who uncannily resembles his dad, is playing a younger version of Kurt’s character. Joining them in the cast are “Pachinko” star Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.
The series, which doesn’t currently have a title, is set in the aftermath of 2014’s “Godzilla,” after a battle between Godzilla and the Titans has decimated San Francisco. The series is co-created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction, who worked on Marvel’s “Hawkeye.” “WandaVision” director Matt Shakman will direct the first two episodes.
Wyatt most recently appeared in FX’s “Under the Banner of Heaven.” He also played John Walker in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and is expected to appear in other MCU projects down the line. Kurt actually joined the MCU first in 2017’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” He also recently appeared in “F9: The Fast Saga” and Netflix’s “Christmas Chronicles.”
Fans will have to wait for more info about the series, but if the duo are portraying members of the same family, it’s always possible others from the real-life acting clan, like Goldie Hawn, Kate and Oliver Hudson, and Wyatt’s wife, Meredith Hagner, could join the project too. We can dream!
